Origins and DA2 had mages robes available for the PC. And while I'm glad the human female Circle mage robes that literally have a circle around each breast are gone, there is no option for PC mage-skirt wearing in Inquisition. What makes it a tad more annoying is I could see NPCs wearing them, and feeling "Why can't I have one?" I could sorta assume that maybe the Inquisitor, if they were a mage, needed to distance themselves from being apart of the Circle. But that doesn't really hold up very well, given that the PC can wear templar armour. What if the Inquisitor doesn't like wearing pants?

And while it's probably too late for the Inquisitor, I think it'd be great for there to be an option in DA4 for the PC to wear robes if they want to.

Want devs to return back swords and heavy armor for mages

We would be in Tevinter now so this would be REALLY stupid and not make any sense, expecially by the lore

I want hero mage to use swords and blood magic not to decide one or another like with specialisations

Meh. I'm not a fan of the robes. Most felt impractical -- except maybe the style Anders has in Awakening, since those were pant-like robes, which I wore in Origins. Unless we're stuck in a Circle where ease of skirts is useful for naughty business, I'm fine without them. ;)

I did quite like those robes. (Although the female version made me wonder. Mainly due to the fact it reminded me a lot of stuff some anime characters wear. I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing... Maybe I was just watching too much anime at the time :P) Even just having an optional robe that was mid calf length for greater maneuverability would be cool.

After reading a series of comics by Carrinth on DeviantArt a couple years ago, it made me wonder how bizarre the concept of pants would be to a mage if all you could remember was life in the Circle.

I used to watch a lot of anime and never made that connection, haha.

I don't see it that way. Pants are not such an alien idea. Templars, who are a permanent fixture any mage gets used to seeing, don't wear robes and there are plenty of Circle mages who remember their time before the Circle's dress-code. ;) Anders is already wearing the pant-style when you first meet him in Awakening. He also wasn't sent to the Circle until he was around 13, I think? But the male variant that he wears is longer than the female, so women look like they're wearing tights. ...Which I guess they are. :D

It made little sense to me why an "apostate" would wear robes when it's obvious mage attire. When DAI went with non-robe armors I was happy. They might not be as stylish, but I felt they were an improvement -- that's not to say I'm against the robes. Options are always good.  :wizard: (Though I don't like how some of the mage baddies and Imshael in DAI are wearing clothes that closely resemble Anders' attire...  :pinched:)

I actually liked some robe designs in DA:O and DA 2. It would be cool if player could still wear some of them in the third game. Not that I don't like light armors - they have pants  :wizard:

Yeah, I remember being upset when I saw Anders' clothes on Imshael. I mean what? Did Imshael steal Anders' clothes? <_< And let's not forget all sellswords in Hinterlands. It was one of the WTH moments in DA:I. The only different thing was colour.

I know! I felt so... betrayed when I saw Imshael. I didn't actually realize the baddies in the Hinterlands were wearing them too until recently and felt even more suspicious. The mages also wear the Keeper Robes, so... What is BioWare trying to imply, exactly?   :o

Apparently there's only like 3 fashion designers in all of Thedas.  This has got to get better if we go to Tevinter right?  I mean the amount of times Dorian brings up fashion...

Oghren: So... mage, huh? What's it like?
Anders: To have all this power at my fingertips?
Oghren: No. To always have to wear a skirt? (Laughs)
Anders: Oh, you don't know the story behind the robes? You know how strict things are in the Circle, right? Of course you do. Well, the robes make quick trysts in the corner easy. No laces or buttons. You're done before the templars catch on.
Oghren: Really?
Anders: Just ask anyone.

This kind of robe I liked:

But I liked also Hawke's wear in DA2, but s/he did not look like a ordinary mage... (Not accidentally, I think, this was the concept) My Hawke never never wore a robe.
Spoiler

And I like grey warden mage wear:

And this "rogue" wear on my mage Inquisitor:

All discussions seem pointless now, but, what the hell:

I LOVE the Grey Warden armor sets. They so smexy, especially for mages.  <3 I always try to get them as early as I can in DA2 and DAI.  :wizard:

More armor diversity is what any game needs! I feel DAI could have done little better on that front.

My favorite mage robes from DAO was Tevinter Mage Robes and Robe of the Witch. DA2 had some rather silly looking mage robes but I liked Mantle of the Champion, Coterie Mage Robe and Battlemage Armaments. In DAI I mainly used Ancient Elven Robes (it was great to have armor just for elves!), In War, Victory and Sentinel Plate.
