Update for anyone who wondered, I guess: Locust was really nice on QFI. Tempest worked well with TSol. Might return to GI for finishing up GPSMG; wasn't fond of it on TSol, maybe due to the lack of geth damage bonus or TC or HM bonuses. Marksman can only do so much. Also, Hornet wasn't bad on GI. Good for headshots. :)

Still not sure who to go with for CSMG. I've never really used it before (I think I tried it out once and then gave up in disgust?) so I'm not completely certain what kind of character it would fit well with for weapon kills.

I gave it a try again. Disgust persists. Ended up Arc Pistol-ing everything that match instead, then went with BPP and had a pretty nice time.

So SMG Mastery is now complete, though I do need more GPSMG (might give GE another shot for that one) and BPP points. I've only used the latter with TSol and I think I've had enough fat turians for the time being. ;)

All SMG challenges are now complete (including points for other relevant challenges). I can happily avoid ever touching the geth SMG again for the rest of my life.

As a side note, those of you who encouraged using that on the GE are Satan.

Glad you got the challenges done, but my recommendation stands for anyone else. You can happily airlock the gun now (as I've done with the Shuriken, Hornet, Argus and Vindicator) but I can only wonder if you missed the part about incendiary ammo, and I'm assuming you also understood the requirement for the extended mag. As I said, I love the combo so much there's no other weapon I'd rather use on the GE.  :)

Those deserve it, but the Argus ?  :( It's not that bad (and sounds pretty good).

Unless you wanna play an up-tempo GE and take advantage of GPSMG ramp up damage.

The GPSMG messes up my GE rhythm.

Yeah, I know, and it's a pretty personal thing, based on a horror show one night in London, when my off-host Turian Sentinel was left to clutch more than he could carry, and cursed his decision to leave his Phaeston at home. But even in happier squad circumstances, it just feels too much like hard work. For a scrub like me anyway  :P  ;)

I never focus on smg mastery since it tends to give me a headache. Although I do like the tempest, hurricane, and  collector smg. BPP is pretty fun too but can be annoying sometimes. Shuriken can got eat a bag of dongs.

It was the "hope really hard that RHA and the turret keep you alive long enough to kill things" part that got me. I almost wiped a few times while clutching against Collectors on Hydra. There would always be a lone possessed trooper that showed up out of nowhere, ready to destroy me and everything I love.

Sounds like a rough combo - something like Reapers on White might have been gentler. But he is honestly an epic character - you should try him again with a weapon you like, and never underestimate or forget the magnificence of chain Overload.  :D

Oh, I don't dislike the character! Just that specific weapon on him. :P I'd like to try sniping with him sometime, actually; he may not have his infiltrator cousin's cloak bonuses, but Overload is A+ and the turret would allow for some more aggressive sniping, I feel. I really liked TTT's vid of him with the Mantis.

You have a maxed Tempest. I'd go with that to get challenges done, it's good even on Gold iirc.

Oh snap!!! Look who's here!!!

I use the CSMG for both the Collector Adept and the Krogan Shaman. EC and PM with Warp rounds. IIRC, doesn't the CSMG have AP already? Just Warp, shoot and shock wave. Then shoot some more for stragglers. Or when dealing with unarmored/unshielded moons just detonate your barrier and pick them off with the CSMG.

It has anti-synergy on him, any time you Sabotage, is time not doing more damage (either via Marksman, or TacScan debuff).

except when you're on w/10 pizzas/device, dat Prime is in the way (i.e. anywhere on the map with its scumbag stun cannon/drone), and you encounter the glaring game design flaw wherein you have no more cobra missiles.

or when Fantum quartet wants get up close under your soup for some red hot human on quarian action (I don't blame them tho), you attempt to reposition only to face ninja turrets

Then you'll wish you had a few points in hax instead of 125 pathetic lolfitness shields not doing anything.

Plus, sometimes you just wanna torture dumb robots and do your villian laugh/ monolouge for a second before you toss 'em in the scrap heap. (Well, at least I do.)

Sabotage is the most quintessentially quarian power in the game. Skipping it is Treason.

^ If you hack a Toaster rocket trooper that's behind the other units, it'll double tap rockets or elbow rocket into their backs, quite humorous imo.

I was struggling with the same weapon challenge, and thought this was useful to the thread:
I find the Tsol most suitable for the challenge. His weapon damage and stability are highly compatible with SMGs:

Blood Pack Punisher with stability and AP mod. Hitting marksman increases stability even further and you'll go as far as being able to headshot from quite a distance (made headshots with it from the back room on Ghost, targets were at the opposite box).

GSMG works surprisingly well on the Tsol if you put the heatsink, AP, and AP ammo (IV) on it. I had a better time with it than I thought I would.
Make sure to be on a distance, and fire. Once your target (or other targets) get too close, hit marksman, which will improve RoF as well as Damage.

Tempest, and Hurricane don't require much of an explanation, I think.

I would use the CSMG with the Huntress, though. Cast power, fire until cooldown is over, cast power, etc.

As for Tsol's build I went 66066 (I chose concussive shot, but you may as well choose proximity mine, whatever floats your boat.)

If any single one of you comes forward and say that you actually like the shuriken....... I am going to report you for terrorism and e-mail chuck norris your home address..........

I like the shuriken, sometimes I do a shuriken-only bf3 soldier on gold, pretty good as long as there are no phantoms around.

Having said that, op I feel your pain, most smgs could use a damage buff at the expense of accuracy to make them truer to what smgs actually are, as-is though they're the most lackluster and unappealing weapons class and it's the weapons challenge I like doing the least.

My play style with the Huntress is 70% BEs and 30% point-blank shotgun blasts in the face, so I learned not to use her for weapon challenges. :P
