Voyager was awful. Let's hope they don't.

If we go by Sci-Fi shows, then;

ME1: Babylon 5, The Next Generation.

ME2: Deep Space Nine, Battlestar Galactica (Reimagined).

ME3: Voyager, Enterprise (Season 1-3), Battlestar Galactica (Season 4)

That helps explaining why ME2 is the best Mass Effect game!

EDIT: Duude, ME3 is way more BSG inspired than ME2. ME3 is the mlitiaristic one. ME2 feels a lot more like a mix of Star Wars/Trek. ME3 also skimped way more on detailed science-y explanations like how BSG is kind of a loose story with lofty ideas about science and faith but its rich and gritty visuals make it seem more "realistic". BSG also had a nonsensical ending like ME3.

I wouldn't mind MEA grooving on the late 90s/2000s beat. Stuff like Titan AE and whatnot.

If we're assuming each Mass Effect game has a 20 years of popular sf thing going. Heaven knows most science fiction books lately, even the large scale space operas, have a bigger emphasis on small details and less obsessive world building exposition. And I am really, really REALLY hoping we're going to have a story on a much smaller scale than ME3. I don't want to decide which species go extinct. I don't want to save an entire galaxy. I want my character and her spacefriends to have an adventure where they could die or mess up, but if they do, it won't burn entire planets.

Indeed. If BioWare is looking at any Star Trek series for inspiration it should be Deep Space 9.

Into darkness or wrath of Khan considering we have a human antagonist.

Wait, how is ME2 anything like the rebooted Battlestar?

Well, ME2 is the best sci-fi game ever made. BSG is the best sci-fi tv series ever made. So there is that for starters.

Really? Maybe for you. You're not gonna take into account Firefly or farscape? I like BSG but the best? There certainly is better. Star trek? Star wars clone wars? Star wars rebels? ME 2. Certainly my favorite but the first 3 halos were fun.
