You need to have the free key given out on a particular Bioware site (can't remember which site that is), but yes it's definitely free on PC.

This is the serial that I found on that site several years ago.

C6KKRJD4BBHTHX9KH49H

But if I remember correctly, you indeed have to start the Steam version of ME1 once to verify installation of the whole thing. Then again I've never played ME1 on Origin, always had it on Steam so this was never an issue for me.

Do you have ME1 on Steam?

Download link is this one: http://lvlt.bioware...._BDtS_EFIGS.exe

Please follow these instructions to get the Bring Down the Sky DLC:

  1. Make sure Mass Effect is installed, then download and run the installer from the following location:
  2. Run the downloaded file to install the new content.
  3. A code is no longer required to authorize the installer.

Have fun playing!

Have you launched the game on Steam prior?

Might help...

Here are some "unofficial" ways to fix installation issues (that I did not want to include in the OP(s):

(A modified version of this might work for Steam users getting the ME1 key to be recognized by the BDtS installer - simply by just adding the ME1 key to your registry [see directions in post - may only have to add ME1 key and none of the other stuff] wink.png - read through the whole thread for updates and a handy user-made app!) -
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/131/index/1942301/1

*Note - to find your Steam ME1 key code in Win 7, look in your ME1 configuration utility usually found in: C/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/mass effect\\Binaries\\MassEffectConfig.exe

(May help some with really messy installation issues - scroll down to amcnow's post) -

Another way to get a working and validated install of BDtS (see Astera's post) -
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/131/index/1335293/16

Batch file script editing to force BDtS key to be added to registry -

Have you tried inputting your game key in origin? I used my boxed copy key and it installs with BDTS and Pinnacle automatically.

This happens to be how I did it too to get both BdtS and Pinnacle Station.

Looks like a lot of links are broken now

I downloaded it from this place some time last year: http://help.ea.com/e...dlc-redemption/

Downloaded the installer and ran it, installed it and it worked without any issues when I launched the game.(I have the steam version of ME1)

But it looks like the link is another dead end.

On Steam's interface, you should be able to view your CD Key.  That one should work on Origin (Mine did).  If it doesn't, contact EA support.

Contact EA support about it.  They should be able to hook you up with a CD key to use on Origin.

If you have an older installation from physical media (or an early EA download) only BDtS is available as a free download; however you can get a Origin digital copy of your game (which includes both DLC).

The DLC download only applies to the earlier installations.
You can find it at:
http://help.ea.com/e...dlc-redemption/
and you no longer need a code.

Pinnacle station does not appear to be available for early installations.

You can tell if you have an early install by looking under the Program Files directory: if the game is installed below Electronic Arts then its an early installation; if installed under Origin Games then its an Origin download.

You can redeem the serial number of a physical copy in Origin by introducing it in "Origin->Redeem product code" and it will grant you a digital copy.

It will work with a steam serial number too...

You can view the number in the ME configurator - the configurator is found under Program Files\Origin Games (or Electronic Arts) \binaries).

If you do get a Origin copy along side your early installation, ME will appear in your library twice! (Hide one, if you like). As saved games are under yet another directory, your games are ready to play, no matter what version you launch (although if a saved game has Pinnacle Station and the launched game version doesn't have it installed, that game version cant use the saved game).
