So, if a person whines / bitches about sex, then have a good comeback like "Having sex is like playing bridge. If you don't have a good partner, you'd better have a good hand."

But your'e right. My friends and I are FIFA EURO FOOTBALL fans.... oh, how the British press excoriated the ENGLAND's manager and players! Yep.. I'm hearing the whinning constantly.

Yeah, me and my bro b*tch a lot about NFL QB's getting paid what they do...especially the mediocre ones.  Whining, b*tching, complaining, venting, whatever you wanna call it, is just part of being human.  So it would really be unnatural if there wasn't at least a little complaining going on among companions/NPC's.

Some humans, more than others.

Whining and moaning should be kept in the bedroom. La de da.

Anyway, as someone pointed out, 'heroic' is quite common. But you know, it would be quite interesting if Ryder or the villain threw a tantrum whenever they lost a fight or something (which won't happen often if Ryder is a hero) and then went back to their cabin and thrashed around on their bed. No, that came out wrong. I mean thrash around on their own. And on their own beds. And cry into their pillows or something.

Look Carth wasn't "whiney" none of the Mass Effect nor Dragon Age cast was "whiney"  - If you want to know what whiney really is then scan the BSN.

Ha, yep. You've got the right idea of it.

A hissy fit catfight between Ryder and the villain wouldn't go amiss either.

I think part of the problem with people seeing certain BioWare characters as "whiny" is because of their dialogue/approval/characterization system. You ask a character questions, they are basic at first, introductory stuff, and then at a certain point you trigger the defining "thing" about the character, either through approval or progression, and a lot of explication of some important/traumatic/defining event ensues and possibly them even asking you for help. Kaidan in ME1 is a really good example of this. After X amount of talking he reveals when he broke that guy's neck after being purposefully standoffish. Even if this mechanic has some basis in reality (you talk to someone, you tend to befriend them, friends tell eachother things, and then you ask friends for help) the way BioWare has done this has been fairly formulaic and rigid throughout all their games. It's way too clinical. ME2 I think was the worst offender of this.... Talk, quest trigger, approval, romance. And then survive through the power of friendship, and it did not help that the theme of ME2 was kind of "parental issues."

I just love how he completely forgets to cry when the ball starts making its way towards him.
