I find it easy to kill the Qunari. They let it be clearly known that their ultimate goal is to forcefully convert all of Thedas. The only thing keeping them from it is that they don't yet have the capacity. As far as I'm concerned, the Qunari are already the enemy and any losses they suffer are beneficial. A lost Dreadnought is essentially good for Thedas.

Right after making this post I went to talk to Iron Bull, to hammer out my feelings, and the quest triggered so I guess Dorian was not meant to be this time around. Though now I have to make the heart crushing choice of saving or not saving the Chargers.
It isn't that hard. Just don't choice to ally with the untrustworthy Qunari. Very easy choice to make.
