I wouldn't be surprised if we get some sort of "Andromeda council" with members of the MW council races.

All that Ryder needs now is a good pilot who can shut them up.

It's hard to imagine that there wont be a kind of centralised political leadership assigned by the project initiators. Unless ofcourse they died a horrible death and Ryder turns out to be the savour that finds the new colonists a new prosperous colony world and several nice outpost planets. That could make Ryder the politicaly most popular figure.

Default Ryder looks like a diplomat unlike Shepard.

The one which doesn't unanimously scold Ryder no matter what he chooses. That would be the hell of a twist.

1. Hoomans - 'cause they's best at it

2. Salarians, 'cause science

3. Krogan - because I want them to create a nigh-unstoppable warmongering civilization in Andromeda

The other ones aren't important; they get nothing.

If the Andromeda mission is not a human initiative,  then i can't see the humans as being number 1 anything.

Yes we saw a snippet of ships being boarded above Earth,  but these ships could have gone to all species home worlds to pick up passengers.  then again,  Earth could have been a placeholder or a deliberate mislead.

I would imagine it would be a four way between the council races at the time: Humans, asari, salarians, and turians.

The other races, the Council races, I would imagine would be there. That would be hanar, elcor, drell, volus. Since, for some strange reason, they have krogan, I couldn't imagine non-council races being denied simply because they are not Council. But I'm sure the devs will only put their favorite races in. After all, people didn't want the krogan, and we got them anyway.

That attitude betrays your inexperience.  There are LEADERS within a team.

And which species that leader is will vary depending on the team.

If every race has similiar population numbers, I don't see why some of them won't be in charge.

Focus group chose krogans over quarians.

I hope not (I am still hoping they bring all the races along (for that matter I am hoping that it's really 12 Arks, as that leaves more than enough room for all of them and in sufficient numbers to have a viable population, too - even if they don't do what I'd do: Bring fertilized embryos along (we create those for science and IVF all the time, I bet the other races do too, so that's not really a problem...ok, maybe not the Asari, but they can mate with basically everybody, so as long as you bring a good number of them along you will have a sustainable population by default (even more so if you add their long lifespans!)...having them incubated in tanks doesn't seem a problem (remember Okeer and his Krogan - and Grunt?)...that way we could even have fully trained adults in moths (I mean the tank taught Grunt basic knowledge, speech, weapon handling, tactics, Krogan-History etc. etc.) and increase the numbers exponentially (and we wouldn't have to totally depend on the cryo-pods and have more room for supplies and equipment, too!))

I hope they are bringing all the races :) - losing more of the core-substance of Mass Effect is not appealing at all!

Who's in charge?

I'd say the four council species, with the on-council ones having a voice of course (like the Babylon 5 ruling-council where the league of non-aligned-worlds (those races who weren't a major power!) could speak, but decisions were in the hands of the larger species)...still, some non-council ones might be elevated (after all if they have an equal amount of people at the start there's no reason not to say give the Quarians (who will probably be the guys in charge of building our new ships in Andromeda) more of a say (while the Volus, the Hanar etc. wouldn't get that because they don't really bring anything important to the table and have no special expertise (unless the Hanar for example grow our food now - large algae-farms maybe, with them as water-dwellers being in charge?))

Humans would tackle colonization (including defending established colonies and starting to construct new ships!) with the others as support

Salarians would run scouting and espionage etc. (again with support from others - like say human N7s!) with STG taking the lead!

Turians would establish defenses, build fortifications etc.

Asari would be the diplomats and the glue that keeps the various races together in relative harmony!

=> All the races together would work together of course, but main responsibilities would be divided up among them - that doesn't mean that there wouldn't be Turian scouts or Asari combat teams etc. (but they'd be coordinated by the race who was responsible for that!)

Defense would be a joint-operation, with Humans and Turians in charge (Turians would fortify positions etc. - while Humanity would probably run offensive actions and fleets (humanity is more flexible than the Turians, but Turians don't break when fighting defensively, so that job's theirs!)

Yes this would be great.

I don't like the idea of races having specific tasks.

Everything should be based on merit.

People should do the jobs that they are qualified for as individuals.

No whole race should be taking the lead in anything.

The Milky Way races should come together to explore and settle this new galaxy as one.
