Fan behavior suggests they're too attached to Milky Way alien races + Bioware's history of being overly accommodating towards the fans.

Will the role of Milky Way alien races eclipse that of Andromeda Aliens?

I'm hoping for 50/50.

I wouldn't mind if they gave more importance to the new aliens and their lore.

I think the new aliens will be like the Elcor and Volus. We will see enough of them so that they can be established within the lore, but not enough to really give a **** about them. They would be further developed in the game after this one (provided we are still in Andromeda which I reckon we will be).

I was thinking at least 60/40 in favor of the Andromeda natives.

Exactly

Since this is an expedition we have limited numbers.  Befriending the natives and forming alliances with them is more important than strengthening best friends forever relationship with Turians, Krogans, or Asari.

That would be acceptable IF the natives are largely primitives.

But the Khet are playing a big role in this game so the natives will be relevant.

yeah 60/40 crossed my mind as well. But who's 60 and who's 40? ;)

Okay then.

Maybe the majority of Andromeda races will be like the Elcor. Some, like the Khet will play larger roles.

They're not all going to get the same sized slice of the pie. There just isn't enough space for everyone to be fully fleshed out. Not yet anyway.

What do you think of this?

It's a coalition.  All the Milky Way races become integrated.  "Us" becomes more than just humans.  It's everyone from the Milky Way.

The focus on Milky Way aliens will be on an individual level rather than a group level.

This leaves tons of room for Andromeda natives.

We can go Salarian and uplift

We'll probably only see 3 new races. 1 Antagonistic and 2 new allies. I hope the new races have decent sized roles. The Milky way races had 3 games for everyone to get to know their culture and history.

Same here.  The new races need big roles to give us the alien explorer feel.

I think we will see roughly a dozen new species. Andromeda needs to have been it's own galaxy before we get there. Otherwise it would literally be us starting from scratch.

Let's see. If we get ten new species, five would be not fully fleshed out. Just enough to establish them. Three will be further fleshed out but won't have the bulk of the focus and then the last two would be the species that are central to the plot. The Khet and the Remnant.

Going by what ME1 was like for all of these species:

The first five would be the equivalent to the Geth, Quarians, Elcor, Volus and Hanar.

The next three would be Krogan, Salarian and Reapers (yes I count them here)

The last two would be Asari and Turian.

Those levels of fleshed out are what I would expect from Andromeda species, at least in this game.

The older races are already established to a certain degree. The Turian and Asari sides could use more exposure and the Salarians are still pretty mysterious.

So I'm happy going 70/30 towards the new races.

The big "role" of the Andromeda races should be the "justified antagonist".

While the role of the Milky Way races should be "the reluctant villains".

On a story level - I expect to, in this game, spend WAY more time with Milky Way races.

The next ME set in Andromeda can change that.

I just hope that the new aliens we encounter will actually be 'alien' and not more humans in rubber costumes.

More aliens like the Hanar and Rachni. Less aliens like the Drell and Asari.

MEA doesn't make sense when Andromeda is just a cosmetic replacement for the MW. If the Andromeda species don't play a significant role then it failed to convince me.

More than that, any new aliens need to be unique (be they humanoid or not).

I'm not too keen on running into Andromeda's off-brand versions of Batarians and Vorcha.

As long as I can have a Turian and Krogan friend, I don't care if everything other NPC is a new alien.

I think the Milkyway species will be given a greater role in the first game that introduces us to the galaxy and our new community. Latergames will probably allow us more exploration of the other civilisations. We're also limited to just one star cluster in the first game, that will expand later.

The job of the first game is to get our new place in the verse situated and introduced to the players.

I'm pretty sure that the Salarians will try this on an Andromeda species at some point, regardless of our input.

Those guys seriously need to impose a Prime Directive on themselves... what kind of madman looks at all the chaos that the Krogan uplift caused, then immediately draws up plans for trying this on the Yahg, who are like the Krogan on super-steroids?

The role of the Milky Way species should be much larger than that of the Andromedan's imo.

Equally I really hope there isn't a forced narrative of befriending the natives. The relationship with natives should be more open to flexibility between antagonistic and friendly based on choices.

Bioware has answered your call.

We seen 2 "creature aliens" in the trailer so far.

I threw some bones and read some tea leaves.

The answer is no.

For One:

It's a human centric story

For Two:

The Behind the Scenes video suggests that the pirates that stole the Krogan colony ship are humans.

For Three:

The cluster threats come from local alien species

For Four:

You need to make allies with cluster races.

And for Five:

We are now in Andromeda. Forget MW races.
