My fears over Bioware's representation of Gay&Bi romances in Andromeda.

MShep + Kaidan is the only "romance" stuff that I've found enjoyable in ~15 years of playing virtually everything with "RPG" in it's description.

So whatever it was that made it work (probably the much more slower pacing) they should keep doing it.

but of course. you're too busy pretending to tie up and waterboard all those fictional women.

Lol,I'm not into tying them up, and I fail to see how keeping a woman... nice and clean is a bad thing. Granted, I call my bathroom "Guantanamo Bay" but it's just for laughs... i swear.

And going by the traynormance, Femshep has a nice little "Guantanamo" of her own.

I'm still mad on what they did to Jacob in Mass Effect 3.

I was as bemused as annoyed, considering the main redeeming feature they tried to credit a Jacob-mance in Lair of the Shadow Broker was 'stability.'

Seriously, Bioware- the one guy you describe as stable and has a character mission dedicated to self-discipline and self-control becomes the only one to fall into a racial stereotype of infidelity and cheating?

Would have, you mean? Probably not. Double standards about how male and female characters are treated sometimes go both ways. On the one hand, they probably wouldn't have given quite as many close ups of such a character's backside as they did with Miranda in the first place. On the other, even if they had--there's a growing perception that it's taboo to sexualize the female figure, but not the male.

Media has a hard time with balance, like how American sitcoms still seem to think a good way to depict "strong" female character is by making all the husbands morons. Like that does anyone any favors.

Or the classic 'make the dangerous antagonist a woman who beats/kills lesser men... before being conquered by the more virtuous male protagonist.'

Bond villainesses, anime antagonist stepping stones, whatever...

Did Bond ever do that? Only Bond woman who ever beat ass was Xenia/Famke Janssen. And he took care of her, as he would any man. Unfortunately. She was the best.

I kind of like the Daredevil story with Elektra. That's a good example.

Don't forget Grace Jones as May Day. She was very much an antagonist.

Though, I think they might have had sex after Bond beats her in a wrestling match, but I could be thinking of one of the other ladies he does that with.

Right, she just resorts to being a one note killer seductress in the end.  It would have been much more interesting if we got a side quest with her and the Monastery or delve deeper into Asari evolution and pure bloods et al. Anything would have been better than what BW actually wrote.

Yeah, I don't know anyone who actually thought that would work, most of the people I've seen play the game would do it just to laugh about it, but then again this is BSN, I'm sure there are some people who raged at not being able to bang Mornith.

-----

Male Miranda complete with gratuitous a** shots? Yes please!

They missed a great opportunity with Morinth in that part, like making us discover the only thing Morinth really cares about apart from herself is her sisters. Of course at the end she wouldn't try to commit suicide but kill you instead (in order to keep her sister's location in secret) so you must to kill her first. She dies with a smile in her face.

So do I.. but I grew to like the Pierce Brosnan version too. And Famke is one of the hottest women ever. Especially like that.

I guess I'll be the minority, I like Daniel Craig's portrayal of Bond.

I actually thought Izabella Scorupco was the scene stealer there.

...out of the female cast members, I mean. No one beats Sean Bean.

She was Natalya, the one Sean Bean's character went full into harassment lawsuit territory with.

So whatever it was that made it work (probably the much more slower pacing) they should keep doing it.

As far as M/M relationships go, I agree that MShep/Kaidan is the best one I've played.  I actually think not being able to romance him in the first two games helped rather than hinder it.  It didn't stop the characters from having sexual tension, especially during the confrontation in ME2.  I also liked that Kaidan argues with Shep and sticks to his own values, is mentor to his own squad, et al instead of following him around like some "yes man".  I think it helped establish Kaidan as his own person rather than Shepard's accessory.  Hopefully more LI's would be written that way. Even if some fans can't stand having an NPC disagree with them.

I've heard people say they killed Garrus because he alternate universe dates Tali, or they sold Fenris back into slavery because he dates an alternate universe Isabela. Guys have had some pretty disturbing reactions to stuff like this on the BSN. If a straight female version of Jacob happened, I could definitely see it being worse. I've never seen a woman say they gave Isabela to the Arishok over Fenris, or for that matter, a gay male say they kill Iron Bull in Trespasser because he gets it on with Dorian in certain game states. It does seem like a vocal minority of straight males tend to have the most violent reactions to having their waifus compromised.

It's hardly only men who think and behave this way.  The BSN is full people of both genders who defend their waifus/husbandos to the death.  This is the same forum that have posters raging over the choices other players make in their own game verse.  So it's natural that they would be intolerant of anything that happens in an alternate version of their own game.

*I never knew some players sold Fenris into slavery over Isabela.  The reasons I've heard have always been mage freedom related.

I don't think they had to pick one over the other to begin with. They should've written side quests for both of them in ME3.
I don't think it had to do with Samara or punishing Renegade players. As for Jacob is a matter of Bioware not caring much of characters Who aren't much popular.

Renegade choices almost always ended up with less content.

My Shepard didn't even die. Sucks for them.

He started a space trucker business. He's got a limp, but he's doing well.

I'd like to think that my Shepard would become a bounty hunter with Garrus and a krogan recruit.

I'm increasingly convinced that Alec Trevelyan is the true hero of Goldeneye the more times I watch that movie. It's not like Bond hasn't done extreme things in the name of revenge before, for often far more pettier reasons. How is Trevelyan wanting to avenge his family any different?

Plus y'know, Sean Bean.
