My fears over Bioware's representation of Gay&Bi romances in Andromeda.

Honestly I have rather different concerns when it comes to gay representation in Mass Effect. Of course the exclusion in two out of three games won't ever be forgotten seeing as Jade Empire and later Dragon Age had gay options and even Mass Effect had lesbian options but no gay ones. When gay content was included in ME3 it was very clearly inferior compared to straight counterparts in quantity and quality. And by quality I don't mean writing. Just look at Cortez' cheaply made face and generic body compared to unique models of Vega, Miranda or the faces of squad mates.

Mass Effect has never had someone like David Gaider or even an Anthony Burch or Neil Druckmann. I worry for Dragon Age without Gaider. I expect even less from Mass Effect. Asari were created as beautiful space babes solely to please the desires of straight male players. They could have been left behind along with heterosexist worlds of the Milky Way. But no, the Asari made it to Andromeda. I won't be surprised if they brought heterosexism along. Truth is when it comes to social issues Dragon is far more futuristic than Mass Effect.

Or perhaps it's your definition of futuristic that doesn't happen to coincide with that of the writers.

Hate to break it to you but I've been to the future and homosexuality is punishable by death. I then went further and it was acceptable. Then further and it was a crime again. And the cycle continues.

I'm glad this is getting the attention it has, if Bioware is as commited to representation as it claims to be then it needs to stop stereotyping Gay and Bi men. We should be as worthy of getting romance options like Alistair, Cullen and Kaidan as other people are.

I always got the idea, at least since hearing him in DAO - Awakening, that Anders was a "homosexual Alistair". Yes, he has troubles, but that should only make him more believable. Regards to Kaidan, isn't he a bi option in ME3? That's what i keep reading and is verifiable on Wikia.

I forget. What's your orientation?

How about we let them focus on making a great plot/game rather than have them focus on such pointless nonsense?

This is why Bioware's latest games have gained so much criticism. Bioware have became a walking meme at this point. Nobody but a vocal minority gives a **** that one of their characters is some asexual trans Leprechaun fighter jet, no one.

See, what the hell is this? Demisexual?

This is complete and utter nonsense conjured by the latest new group of special snowflakes who need a new adjective every five months to describe their current sexual preferences.

-shrugs- I just know Hanako identifies as demisexual, so I answered the question.

I myself am not demisexual but I believe it has to do with.... Not experiencing sexual attraction unless they feel an emotional attachment?

(Someone can correct me if I'm wrong)

Actually diversity is quite in demand at the moment and Bioware's writers have expressed want to make sexually diverse characters as well. Since it's making characters more diverse I don't see why it's away from great plot and game.

I was so dissapointed when I´ve found that all that they used for Hale´s voiceacting in DA:I was some social engineering attempt...

Opinions on the gentleman Krem aside, you would seem to be wrong since Jennifer Hale is written as additional voices on the IMDb page for the game.

Edit: DP

Edit again: maybe it's because we're talking sexuality, but I couldn't help thinking of the other kind of DP.

Umm... not knowing what a term means doesn't make that term meaningless.I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what a geometry shader is, but they're still a thing.

Having said that, I'm not sure that demisexuality as defined above would ever be relevant in a Bio game.

It's vocal minorities on both sides. Most players don't give a damn about this.

Yeah, that was my take. Most Bio romances work for a demisexual as it is, from what I can see. Morrigan may be an exception.

Actually diversity is quite in demand at the moment and Bioware's writers have expressed want to make sexually diverse characters as well. Since it's making characters more diverse I don't see why it's away from great plot and game.

Because of how hamfisted they handle it in every single game. Compare Inuqisition to how Witcher 3 handled a gay character.

In Inuqisition you get it thrown in your face constantly about how the character is "so progressive and diverse!" and all it does is ruin immersion. In Witcher 3 they had a gay character who didn't even mention he was gay until you spoke to him a bit more and found out about him, it felt natural and real.

Bioware has turned into a complete joke lately because of all their sexual pandering nonsense and to say Diversity is in demand is an outright lie, gamers don't care about diversity when it purely exists for the sake of diversity hence why so many games that are pandering are getting ignored from gamers that don't want the developers political agendas crammed down our throats. Bioware has became a meme lately with how much they've been pandering in their most recent game.

I couldn't give a **** if a character is straight, gay or some asexual attack helicopter, just give me a good game with a good story and believable characters. If they're gay so be it, just don't make that the basis of the character.

Seriously, what's even the deal with actively pursuing more sexually diverse characters? Those demographics represent such a tiny portion of the gaming community that all it does is alienate your actual fanbase in favor of a group that likely couldn't give two shits about your games.

Just look at the Baldur's Gate Dragonspear controversy and how badly it bit the developers in the ass when they got bombarded with negative reviews only for them to publicly apologize for forcing their political views into their games.

Dragon Age: Inquisition did the same thing as the Witcher 3. You didn't learn anything about a character's sexual orientation until after having previous conversations with them. Dorian doesn't bring it up his being homosexual until his personal quest since it was part but not the main part of his family drama and Sera doesn't bring up her being a lesbian until you flirt with her.

They literally marketed Dorians sexuality as a thing due to him being their first "pure gay Homosexual character" or some nonsense.

The above write up sums up everything that is wrong with modern bioware. Unless they stop trying to pander to a vocal minority and focus on actual good characters instead of meeting quotas the sooner they will cease being a laughing stock.
