Bio is rather quiet about the purported amazing graphics of ME:A since the game is no longer limited by old gen consoles.

Yes, there is that first trailer and then the last video from EAPLAY. Still, the graphics awesomeness is lacking. However, DICE + FB3 may have outdone themselves with Battlefield 1.

The video footage was taken from an ALPHA version and shows amazing weather effects. I'm expecting similar effects with ME:A, when we explore the planets. Here is the link:

One caveat. The captured gameplay of Battlefield 1  played on a PC using a GTX 1080 graphics card. When the Bio/EA marketing machine takes off and show us super eye candy, I bet they won't mention the hardware .

I'm not expecting BF 1 graphics. Shinobi even said that he'd compare them more to Battlefront and that DICE are masters at their own engine. But I'm still expecting things to look great. Way better than the orig tril.

Graphics don't matter to me as much as the art and the visual congruence of all the styles and themes. Distinctiveness. When I look at the ship, armors, and hub worlds, do I immediately feel like I'm looking at a Bioware game?

I don't want it to look like any old general Halo or Destiny game with a bunch of random sci-fi crap thrown together. They kind of did that in DA:I (throwing a bunch of fantasy crap together, a motley of visual styles and themes) and I hated it.

Perhaps. But, the potential is definitely there. Especially if DX12 is supported.

Take any pre-release footage with a grain of salt. Just about every developer will pull shenanigans with this. I'm sure it'll look real good though, if not as good as BF1.

Hey if it looks as good as BF1 I will be satisfied. I am looking forward to that new star wars game from bio Austin. The conceptual prototype looks awesome.

Well, take the engine, add art and visual congruence and you may yet be blown away.  As to the feel of a Bio game, the studio said it will definitely look and feel like one.

Well, my expectations are for it to be at least equivalent to TW3 which looks pretty sweet with ultra settings displayed on a 32" 2.5K monitor.  I wouldn't complain if they surpassed it though:)

Great story and gameplay is important, but awesome eyecandy makes it even more enjoyable. :)

Let's hope we'll get some of that.

"Bio is rather quiet about the purported amazing graphics of ME:A since the game is no longer limited by old gen consoles."

Actually, for the most part IT IS limited by old gen consoles if we consider the vanilla PS4 and X1 as old gen.  These 2 weak machines are the new anchor. On the pc side of things, I think people will need at the very least a 660 board in order to play the game.

Since the game will not be released with exclusivity for the 1080 board or the new improved version of the current gen consoles, I´m expecting something better than Mass Effect 3, but that´s all. By the date of the release, 5 years will have passed since ME3.

|I know the game uses the game engine as DAI, but I hope they take a totally new aproach. DAI´s characters look terrible. Specially in the hair department.

One thing that I hope they could add is "beauty department" in the options. So you could choose if you want armors, weapons and clothes to look always pristine or if they will have battle damage, marks, dirt and so on. Or if characters could show realistic defects in their faces or to look like hollywood characters in make-up.

I do hope, however, that this time they release native 4k textures for PC. And make the game easier to mod than DAI.

I'm not really worried about this. If it looks better than the original trilogy, which in my opinion aged fairly well, then I'm happy.

Never take pre-release graphics for granted. The effects are often enhanced for presentation's sake.

I remember they said it would look more like Battlefront than Battlefield 1, which is more than fine by me. Bioware doesn't need to be an industry leader graphics wise, and Inquisition already looked pretty good, even if not as good as the TW3s or MGSVs of this world.

Art design is often more important than pure graphical horsepower anyway, and Mass Effect traditionally has some pretty good design.

Hmm, if [you can drink], you might wanna make sure you sit down and have at least one drink when you first play/watch the demo/game. They said the requirements would be (about?) the same as DAI.

I'm hoping that there is less graphical issues that with DAI, maybe Bioware has learned to use Frostbite better so there is no more textures that don't load in time or don't work properly and there is no graphical features in CC that are locked behind high/ultra.

Other than no big graphical issues, I'd like to see environments have details like DAI's Storm Coast's huge waves.

My biggest concern has to do with the hardware required to maintain a reasonable frame rate.

I'm hoping it won't be the resource hog that DAI has been.

I have almost zero concerns about the graphics. Other than my expectation that the hair is probably going to suck again because of BW's track record in the hair department, I think everything else will look pretty good. Given that's it's the FB3 engine, it has to be at least as good as DA:I (better at this point, I would hope).

EDIT: I certainly hope they manage to defy my expectations about the hair, because some halfway decent hair at long, long last would be nice.

Since it would be using the frostbite engine, it should look amazing especially with all the bells and whistles turned on. I'm sure it will be properly optimized unlike Arkham Knight on day 1 good god

That's true. However, I'm impressed with what the engine is capable of, in the graphics department. Weather dynamics in BF1 is rather good and I expect the same with the opportunity that some sci-fi planet background can look like.

What you see is ALL IN GAME FOOTAGE with permission to record, from an ALPHA version of BF1. About the enhanced effects thing, the PC running the ALPHA was using top of the line Nvidia GTX 1080. The next gen consoles don't have that power, so I can see your point. Whether the final cut will show this or "toned down", I don't know.  As someone said up thread, the minimum graphical detail should be DA:I like.

About the hair....who knows?

This is in-game footage with permission to record, from an alpha version of Dark Souls 2 compared to the same area from the final release. Or if you want a more recent example, look at just about anything Ubisoft has come out with compared to pre-release gameplay.

Don't believe everything you see until you can play the game for yourself.

I don't know just how good it will look compared to a game like BF1 which probably has a ginormous budget in comparison but I expect it to look pretty sweet. I just spent £1800 (2400 USD) on a new PC so that I can whack every setting up to max without thinking twice about frame rate drops (for this game and all those coming for the next two years at least) and I can mod games that allow it into oblivion and not worry about it.

Not rich btw; just been saving my pennies like an old scrooge.
