I'd buy that.

I'm not expecting BF 1 graphics. Shinobi even said that he'd compare them more to Battlefront and that DICE are masters at their own engine. But I'm still expecting things to look great. Way better than the orig tril.
Oh please stop mentioning the name Shinobi! ![]()
Remember the EA Play presentation "fiasco"? (I did not call it, and for me it wasn't, a fiasco)
Bio is rather quiet about the purported amazing graphics of ME:A since the game is no longer limited by old gen consoles.
Yes, there is that first trailer and then the last video from EAPLAY. Still, the graphics awesomeness is lacking. However, DICE + FB3 may have outdone themselves with Battlefield 1.
How can you say the game looks lackluster in the graphics departement? Unless you have not adjusted your monitor to the 2010's or have malfunctioning eyes, the graphics so far looked like the best we have achieved so far in a videogame, no buttlicking here.
I'd say it will look like an upgraded Battlefront in terms of graphics, because that's what it looked like in the EA Play Trailer.
I think most 'space-based' games of recent years have more than acceptable graphics and i expect MEA to be as good:
Nah, the graphics look far too blocky in that footage.
As for how the MEA will look, I think Battlefront (not Battlefield) will be the best indicator (i.e. in-game graphics will look really good).
Well I do want to see outstanding graphics because its all about immersion... yes if the story and character developmente is crap well graphics won't save it but graphics will seriously dent ME:A is they arn't good enough as its meant to be as much about 'exploration' (which means environment) and a verison of first contact with the Andromeda species which again means really decent looking NPC's and 'urban' environments unless everyone is still living in huts and caves
I've been playing the division which for all its faults has really good looking and realistic environments (and I can shoot car tyres or kick random boxes that get in the way!!) and the movement animations are pretty good too.
*Edit - and the weather/atmospheric stuff is also pretty awesome
Star Citizen, again whatever you think of what the game might or might not end up being, is showing how much you can do with transitions between ship to planet stuff and even in space movement without any loading windows (ah I might miss the elevator conversations but not the interuption that used to bring)
So I am setting the bar high for ME:A becasue they've had enough time to get the game looking polished and beautiful and they should be taking full advantage of the new consoles even if they have to dumb it down for the PC
Well, my expectations are for it to be at least equivalent to TW3 which looks pretty sweet with ultra settings displayed on a 32" 2.5K monitor. I wouldn't complain if they surpassed it though:)
Have to ask what kind of frames you are getting and what hardware you are using. Anything below 2X 980 Ti and you can forget getting 60fps.
I expect the graphics to be perfectly reasonable to most, while the 'master race' spend a solid year bitching about how blades of grass aren't up to their standards.
LMAO, this is so true and I say that as someone who loves me some eye candy.
I'm more concerned aboit how/if it'll run on aging machines. I ran DAI fine on medium settings but the machine is five years old.
Again have to wonder what kind of hardware you are using.. a 680 or something?
I expect them to be 2D
LMFAO...
Great atmosphere, ugly faces, terrible animations but sometimes decent cinematography. Overall my lasting impression will be "I've seen better".
I'm definitely satisfied with even ME2's level of fidelity. I don't care much beyond that. I just need the story to be worthwhile.
I doubt Battlefront should be used as a measuring stick for graphical expectations towards MEA. Battlefront's great looking graphics are at least partly owed to the fact that most models were created by scanning actual Star Wars props owned by LucasArts, something that BioWare can't do for MEA.
Most likely we get a similar deal like DAI - very good looking landscapes, good looking models, so-so animations.

My understanding is that the Mass Effect devs had to scrap all that was and start from scratch because of the switch to the BF3 engine. This includes new mocap for their animations. As such, I expect really good ones.... now, if they can only do the walking, running and idle ones right...who knows, we may yet see someone picking their nose... ![]()
Graphics are less important than y'all think. Way less.

That's odd. I am by no means an expert, but aren't the actual models and animations exported from third party applications like Autodesk Maya anyway and them imported into the actual engine? So switching to a new engine would usually just mean a re-import of those assets. Eh, I'm sure they had their reasons...

Well, that's a matter of personal preference, I'd say. I have no problem at all with mediocre graphics if a game is fun to play.
However, the more "cinematic" a game is, the more important good graphics and animations become because you can't have good cinematics without them.
The only thing I'm expecting graphics wise is better looking hair and beards. It was really the only thing that bothered me a bit graphic wise with DA: Inquisition. It doesn't help I'd seen better examples of facial hair and hairdos on last gen consoles, never mind new gen.
If someone who isn't that demanding graphics wise is noticing it, then it's probably something that Bioware need to improve.
Hair (movement) requires a robust physics engine and I'm not sure its in the cards for BW to deliver on that front. (who knows though, I could be talking out my ass.)
This is frostbite and it's 2016, we'll see.Hair (movement) requires a robust physics engine and I'm not sure its in the cards for BW to deliver on that front. (who knows though, I could be talking out my ass.)
well if I had to choose between realistic hair movement and decent mist/smoke sunlight and shadows I know which one I'd choose ![]()
256 mb graphic card ram, and 1 gb ram would be great requirements.
A man can dream ![]()
I want it to make my 1080 cry but it won't especially as I only game at 1440p. Seriously though I'd be happy with DAI level environments and faces but with better facial animations and at least somewhat realistic looking hair that doesn't look like it was made with a few twigs, some corrugated cardboard and a Pritt Stick.
