They are different games. One has companions the other doesn't.  I don't mind either type of game, it seems companion content is more important to you.

I believe it can be done.  Prerelease footage showed alot of content that was cut.  Other open world games not including that other game have loads more main/side quest than DAI.

As I said, in a separate post,  I'm not going to talk any more in this thread about that other game.

And that is the point: they are different games with different priorities. Inquisition more than nailed what I wanted from the side content. It wasn't lesser than other open world games, just oriented differently so the side content had a heavy character focus. And what wasn't character focused was used to add into an already intricate world. If we can get more, either because of the increase in budget, focus on current gen tech, or just familiarity with the engine then great. But if ME: A is simply a slightly improved Inquisition then it will still be amazing.

My gripe has been that the claims made about Inquisition and lacking meaningful side content are constantly made and yet have little substantitive weight to them. Maybe Inquisition's focus on character and world building with emphasis on customisation wasn't what some wanted... But that is all that can be said. It is not fact that the optional content is of inferior quality to any other RPG on the market. That has too often been repeated ad nauseam in topics like these.

It's difficult to believe that. Sorry.

I can understand liking the game, but to say this is what you were putting your hopes in, then no. Those quests are not only poor by Bioware standards, but poor in general. Barely any dialogue, fetchy, barely any context to even why you're doing most of them. Is this the pinnacle of gaming to you... to hunt ram meat and walk cows through shoddy AI pathing?

No context? You are a fledging organisatio trying to build your reputation... You can choose to do the little quests or not depending on your ROLE PLAY. And why do you need a lot of dialogue for ram meat? In reality, it is simply going to be "hey... The people need meat" and if you do it, you hand it over to the guy to distribute it.

And seriously, that is one of the most minor quests in DA: I... The companion quests have a ton of dialogue and choices. There are quests that carry over until you get to levvy judgement. And one of those quests is much more immersive for finding a letter on the field instead of a grand cutscene screaming "hey look here! This is uber important!". And then there is the first case of interactive banter, which is simply amazing interms of additional content and role playing choices. And the war table is aactually a great realistic showcase of how an organisation decides on matters and sees the results. You get info, you decide, you get a report. It actually felt like being the head of a massive organisation.

Maybe you found that not to your liking, but it allowed me to feel more a part of the events than an observer. So the side content is not objectively poor. I said this once before, but it seems the divide is from those who enjoy more tried and true role playing and those who prefer a more cinematic approach.

Disagree,  but you know that.  I actually think Bioware wanted to have more side/main content,  but it was cut.  Pre release teasers certainly show that.
