Recently I started to play a lot Stellaris with Mass Effect mods. Stellaris is a strategie game with the goal to bring the galaxy under your control. (Mass Effects mods in it are great by the way and it feels like you play the politic part of the mass effect universe) But back to the topic, there are things I noticed while playing as the Alliance. The fight for planets to colonize and resources is a big part of it.

In Andromeda we will have a fresh start and it's to assume a lot of milky way races plan to settle and of course want to get the best suited planets and the most resources for themselves.

Will this really be peaceful? We know in the past there were problems with that. There were races that settled across the universe and it was strict regulated by the council. The Quarians were not allowed to colonize new worlds, Batarians were pissed at humans because they took a planet they wanted and Wrex planed to ask the council for new worlds to populate because the new wave of "Korgan joy" was expected to be a Tsunami.
So in the Milky Way the council regulated it but in andromeda? There is no council and all races are in terms of technologie on the same level (at least when it comes to knowledge about it.) And I doubt that like the Turians will have the biggest fleet to keep other races in check or something, as it would be stupid if they took them all to andromeda. We knew the military fought in the reaper war after all.

Will the milky way races still be friendly with each other or will a new fight for resources start in andromeda? And andromedas home races sure won't respond kindly if you gonna take one of their worlds from them. I have the feeling the balance of power could change dramatically and I kinda hope for it, as that is more realistic, when all those different races play nice with each other. It's only natural that everyone one of them want to have the dominance or at least want to play a bigger part. Maybe what wasn't possible in the milky way could now happen as no one get's a prothean kickstart anymore.

Yes, it will probably be "peaceful" for the most part!

Why?

Simple, we are the newbies and the established Andromeda-Races will see us as a threat (note: Not all of them, but some) and it's divide and conquer (united we stand a better chance!)...it's like on Earth:

Any regime with internal dissent looks for an outside threat to focus their populations aggression on (and we will probably not even have to look for a threat, there will be a genuine threat right there, so no propaganda needed!)

Will there be squabbles? Probably! (We'll probably solve this as either main- or side-quests!)

Will there be rogue factions? Probably (well, have to hunt those down an bring them to justice...or maybe support them (note: This is IMHO a missed opportunity of the last 3 games: We could never really support Cerberus or actively join Cerberus (or go rogue ourselves...I mean my Shepards - no true Renegade among them! - don't have time to sit in PRISON while the galaxy is being threatened and while nobody really does anything (ok: That might change - I mean if they really built those Arks in that time, then they did listen after all and all that gets put in a new light...but if Shepard didn't know? Well: Still no time to rot in prison!))? I probably still wouldn't, but I'd love the opportunity (there's after all many many players out there who would!))

Still, I guess that Humanity, the Asari, the Turians and the Salarians will probably work together (they did so in the past and they have no reason not to - I mean especially the Asari have only had great experiences working with other races (they've only had a problem once and that was because the Salarians acted without thinking it through because of desperation (I am talking about the Krogan-Uplift!)) and unless most of Andromeda is inhabited space is vast enough for all the races!) and keep the others in line (their numbers might be larger than those of the other species taken along, if it was a council-programm...) and punish them if they act out!

I don't want to see no we're all equal everyone is a winner crap.  Give them a chance to prove themselves with successful action.  Milky Way Races in competition to colonize Andromeda would make the game better and realistic.

My money's on Humans and Krogans.  They'll take more Andromeda planets than the other Milky Way races.

I don't think that the species are necessarily looking to colonize an entire planet with only their race. If they are lucky enough to find a planet that is habitable, I'm guessing some people from all species will settle there and the rest will keep looking. I don't see why every species needs its own particular planet when all the species already live and work together on places like the Citadel.

Uh, the races didn't really "cooperate". All of them had their secret projects.

Here's the thing though that most people miss - in the Milky Way, inhabitable worlds are actually extremely rare.

We don't get the impression of this in the game, but that's because of the mass relay network. The relay network is specifically designed to link (either directly by relay or indirectly by short FTL travel) the majority of life-bearing worlds in the galaxy. Why? Because if it didn't, then there would be species that are evolving off of the network and outside of the Reaper's influence, which would invalidate the entire trap that the Reapers set up (which Vigil explains pretty clearly in ME1).

And even of the thousands or millions of inhabitable worlds linked in the relay network (and out of 200 billion star systems in the Milky Way, that's really an astronomically small number) - species STILL fought over them tooth and nail.

And Andromeda takes place in a single star cluster, reportedly. A very large one, I'm sure, but still. Realistically, there should only really be a handful of inhabitable worlds that we encounter. Maybe a little more, for gameplay purposes, 10-20 or something and they can just say the Helios cluster has a statistically higher concentration of inhabitable planets or something.

But it really can't be the same number of them that we saw in the prior trilogy. And some, we know for a fact, are already taken by Andromedan species.

So I am going to go out on a limb and say that in light of all that, there will definitely be conflict among colonists- both within the Milky Way factions and between them and Andromedans.

Apart from the fact that Bioware are yet to make a walking simulator, so I know MEA will not be peaceful.

The philosophical question imo has the same answer.  If Milky Way races try to colonize a world that already has natives or is "owned" by some other Andromeda race,  there will be conflict

The Citadel was different though, everyone who lived there also had a home planet to go to if they pleased.

I don't imagine other species would want to share planets. Coexisting at the start would be fine as they could live on opposite sides of the planet. In the future though there would be fights over land and just more unwanted conflicts.

Yes.

And expect hostility, because we are the invaders.

Are there actually any Mass Effect mods that are any good besides graphics stuff?

What's the alternative to being invaders

We help natives kill Khet (the "bad guys") in exchange for planets

It was less about that we are invaders and a threat to the natives. (I think that is kinda a given)

More about that all milky way races start over and a new rivalry could come from that.

Sorry for that?

So far I think it's only graphic and music. Some races were added, as well as Alliance ships.

Not you just some of the things that I realized we are or will be doing.

Enough of that i do find your opening theory quite interesting to be honest.
