This may be a bit of a light-hearted thread but considering the options I'm asking for, I think my request would fit fine; More humanizing moments.
I felt the trilogy did try to add these once in a while but I felt they could have done a better job. I should clarify that I do not mean humanizing moments as expressing sadness or anger at something, I mean humanizing moments like expressing excitment over something or having an interest in something unrelated to their job.
I like dialogue options for my character to be able to express an interest in things outside of their job and even have optional interactions like, say, play a video game with a crewmate during a conversation similar to playing chess with Samantha except with less auto-dialogue. Have the character mention their opinion on the Blasto movies. Little touches like that can go a long way towards making a character feel more like a person.
I like dialogue options for my character to be able to geek out over new discoveries, talk history or discuss science. We are entering a whole new galaxy: I don't think it would be weird if our character had the option of showing some genuine excitment over this possibility. There's nothing wrong with a player character that has dorky moments and squee at certain things so I'd really like for the team to provide these kinds of options.
Basically, I like to feel like my character could have a life outside of their occupation and find it completely believable that they'd have hobbies unrelated to it.
It's in large part why I became interested in Watch Dogs 2 after seeing a mission showcase even though I have Iittle interest in the first game. The protagonist group in the second game seem like a fun bunch to be playing as and with: they might seem a bit pretentious but they also seem like dorks whose child-like excitment over what they're doing is downright infectious. Basically, they seem like people and I could completely buy that these people would sit down for a game of drunk Mario Party in their spare time.
Note: I feel the Dragon Age series has had better luck with providing the players options to humanize their character in this regard like making me believe that my Inquisitor could sit down to a game of cards and tell embarassing stories. The same with Hawke and the Warden.
What Andromeda really needs...

The Friend zone, see a young cadet save his friend time and time again only for her to choose an MEA race bad boy then you the player council him. Renegade option could be more fish in the sea, that Andromeda native girl saw you being heroic why not do the same as your friend.
Greedy Polygamous squadmates and uncomfortable bedroom humour, where you think about getting with them only to find the Krogan already has and thats put you off.
The AI got some...or it fanticised about being with the Hanar...
Gold digger, Cheaters with domestics, confused youths, the widowed Asari, love twists where the second playthrough you let the other guy die (like being cuckled).

A new life ... in the Off-world colonies!

Those colonies just aren't as fun without Cerberus and self-serving corporations.
Golden land of opportunity? Really? ![]()

I forgot what that part was saying...
And I just rewatched it not too long ago.
Not to derail too much, but wasn't Bladerunner blended with his Alien setting?

Hmmm I don't know - but that makes the "new life that awaits you" a lot more sinister... ![]()

i had to look it up.. this was actually from Prometheus.

But yeah, I always like the sinister side of the colonial story... which Mass Effect borrowed.

Ryder's personal quarters MUST HAVE a fish tank / aquarium.
If that is missing, it wouldn't feel as home ![]()

Oh yeah ... BioWare are Canadian, that means an English actor doesn't have to be the bad guy!

I kind of just wish they would dump all the stress and energy behind everything, make it mellow and contemplative.

I still think it'll be action heavy...and telling from their story, they're basically doing the same thing... where humanity unearths some Ancient crap (the Remnants) that somehow introduces strife in the setting. Maybe you'll be better off with No Man's Sky (for sci-fi).
