Also, do any party members offer significantly more dialogue/insight than others in any of the 3 DLCs? Someone said Cole, Sera and Varric for Jaws, but they're all rogues and I prefer to have 1 of each class in my party. Does one of them have more content than the other two? And does any other party member get anything special in any of the DLCs or are they all more or less the same? Again, no specific spoilers please, just general answers.

Take Iron Bull to the Frostback Basin (Jaws of Hakkon DLC). Meaning he should be one of the main party members when you first visit the basin. He has some dialogue with Harding.

Personally, I made Vivienne Divine, and headcanoned that Varric left and Blackwall went to the Wardens. So I only had Cassandra, Sera, Cole, Dorian, and Iron Bull.

I would say Cassandra is the most relevant. She has things to say about the various historical discoveries. Varric has a little dialogue regarding an avvar who comes up with conspiracy theories.

Iron Bull can give some pointers about one of the quests where you track someone down. Blackwall gives similar advice.

Sera and Bull have negative but amusing reactions to the end of a quest involving the girl who climbs up the cliffs. So does Cassandra and Vivienne. Cole says a funny thing, but not much more.

Bull warned of danger when entering a forest type area in the basin and spotted a girl who was in trouble, but I think others can do the same.

Sera and Bull had interesting reactions to the "mystical" creature you go hunting for.

Sera and Bull have negative reactions to the island you go to by boat. Cole has relevant advice for someone you meet on that island. Cassandra and Dorian have interchangeable dialogue in that same spot but at a later point in the quest.

Solas has almost no relevance to JoH, and in fact can be worse than useless since there is one important thing in the basin related to elvhen history and he makes no comment about it whatsoever.

Vivienne, Blackwall, and Varric have little to no relevance. Solas isn't very helpful (except in terms of an exploit I found).

Cassandra is relevant for Inquisition, spirit/demon business. Sera is somewhat relevant for just good old fashioned adventuring. Cole is relevant for spirit/demon stuff. Dorian is relevant because of all the Tevinter artifacts and history. Iron Bull is somewhat relevant for the same reason as Sera. Also, if you didn't romance Dorian or Iron Bull and you want them to start something, the basin is where a lot of their banter can be triggered.

As for Descent, I still had the same crew as before. So I don't know how relevant Varric, Blackwall, Vivienne, and Solas are. I know that their banter during the elevator ride is lame though. When you first go to the area where Descent takes place, you should take Cassandra, Sera, and Cole. They have the better elevator banter, in my opinion. I suppose you could take Blackwall if he was made a Warden, but you'll have to headcanon that he was made a Warden by then.

Varric only has about two relevant parts, and one of them is more of a gag, which won't even seem relevant unless you heard his elevator banter. So if you plan on taking him along, switch Sera out for him instead for the elevator ride.

Definitely take Cassandra and Dorian for the main darkspawn fight. Possibly Vivienne too if your character isn't a mage. You're going to need a lot of dispels at the end of the fight.

For the end boss, you'll likely want to end the fight as fast as possible. I recommend high DPS dealers with the Mighty Offence Tonic as well as Cole's Mark of Death. So take Sera as well. I had my Rift Mage, Cassandra, Sera, and Cole. We beat the final boss in roughly 15 seconds on Nightmare (not counting pausing).

Trespasser is just awful. It really doesn't matter who you take. All choices are meaningless.

Can you split when you play JoH? Like, start it before the final fight, play up toa  certain point, then do the final fight, then finish JoH. And, if you do this, will you get the post-game version of, say, Harding's speech to you, when the time comes?

Well, that's not even remotely true. Especially in the context of locational banter that you've been talking about. Each companion has a clearly marked banter trigger in each new zone. They all have something to say.
