You do have a point, but the size of the vessel don't mean that it has to be a Ark. I never meant that they only sent a small scout ship, I was more on the line of a bigger ship with a couple of scout vessel on it (or attach is a correct word?)

And I do agree that it is a bigger possibility that they are on a Ark, I just don't see it as a hard fact yet and therefore I don't think people should shoot down a theory without putting some thought in it.

And this may only be because the view, but are not those cryo pods very small?

My mistake, I interpreted your initial argument incorrectly. My bad.

And I think they look small because it is a matter of perspective, if we are both looking at the same thing. The cryo pods have a weird design that is difficult to fully make out.

Edit: I think the cryo room is pretty big. The camera is close up on Ryder but also near the floor. Certain parts of the room look small from perspective.

I don't know. Being an actual pathfinder--forward scouts with the primary objective of setting up drop points for air, or in this case space, forces--could just be an excellent excuse to have the player go round plopping things around in an open world like in Dragon Age: Inquisiton. I assume instead of a weird banner thing though it'll be a small conical doodad that looks like its made of white polymer with a blinking light and probably an antenna. And you would be slamming them down everywhere and only the first time you do it is the relevant prefab facility dropped hard onto the location from orbit.

"Hey Pathfinder, our initial scans indicate that the planet has subterranean freshwater deposits. The logistics team needs groundside eval to pinpoint where to place their hydro pumps."

I mean, if it's going to be that much like Inquisition we wouldn't even have dialogue explaining why we're placing these beacons. We'd just be inundated with places to slap stuff down so we can build up the colonies to gather manifest destiny points which is the only way to advance the plot forward.
