Now, if Fallout 4 didn't do this with one of their companions then this feature will seem unlikely, but when this companion said my name I was like, "what he just said my name?!" Sure this is a minor character in the game and your name could not even be heard if you don't bring the character. BioWare has to account for infinite possible name combinations, however in certain instances saying someone's first name is more natural then saying their last name or their title all the time, especially if their a love interest. There were times in Inquisition (and Shepard's trilogy) where just saying the players first name would have been more natural then just Inquisitor. I mean all a first name is good for (in my mind) is a save slot...
Do you think companions (at the very least) and or our antagonists will say our first names, instead of Pathfinder or Ryder?

No, I do not. The utilization of this feature would be exponentially harder than its utilization in Fallout 4 for a variety of reasons. The resources required would almost certainly be seen as not worth the cost for this feature. They may have it so you can choose one of a dozen or so nicknames, but that would be it at most I think and even that is unlikely.

Nah, I don't think so. The feature in Fallout 4 was neat, but ultimately inconsequential. It'd be a lot of work for something just as easily accomplished by just using a title / set last name. And the latter sounds better, imo.

It's still bug me when everyone call me by last name or title even from close friend family and lover.
As a full voice game, I want Bioware to give us full name (First name and last mane) for male and female (may be 2 name for each sex).
As long as they let us choose our path in the game. I don't have problem with my name (and I'm sure Bioware will not choose the name we can't stand)

Everyone will address us as "Hey Kid" ![]()
My preference is just have a static name for the protagonist. That way they can be called by their first name.

No. And I don't really care all that much about it.
Considering that BioWare is emphasizing the name Ryder means that, that is probably what all NPCs will call the PC.

Of course not. Is this even up for debate?

I almost never pick serious names for my characters. Ever. As such, Codsworth has never said my name. ![]()
I get that it can be a little 4th-wall-breaking when no one uses your character's first name, but I don't need it. Either we get to pick a name or they give us one they can voice. Seems fair enough to me.

As much as I enjoyed it in Fallout it was more of a gimmick that was unnecessary and Bioware can put the money needed for that towards other things.

Lol.
I just made thread about same thing xD
Seriously didn't notice this one.
Anyway, like I said in my own thread regarding this matter, if it were to happen it could be handled so either only our companions or our family perhaps is one that mentions it, if not, then only Ryder in that case.

It would be easier if characters just stopped addressing us by name/title so often.
"How are you feeling?" works just as well as "How are you feeling, Inquisitor/Hawke/Shepard?"
This!!
Or have a handful characters create a nickname, similar like James did. It's more personal and there's no weird situation where your LI continues to call you Shepard (or Ryder then) ![]()
I didn't mind too much, but I certainly would welcome less name-mentioning.

The only thing I care about this matter is how everyone addresses the player by the last name (or title). I'd prefer if they gave the male and female character an actual name and last name, and let npc's address us by either our first name or last name depending on situation/character (like Jane and John Shepard). And done.
I don't care about giving my PC a name because it's pointless anyways. The only name I need is for my game profile, to be able to switch different profiles and distinguish them.

Really? Then why does NBA Live 2001 and on have that same feature? Its not that complicated bruh. You just have certain names register like names spoken in the game. No, I do not. Cause 100% of the dialogue is just colour announcing and saying a last and/or first name?

I mean I'd like it, but its by no means a must have. If they don't go this route it'd be best not to call attention to the fact that your first name is never spoken like they did in some parts of ME3.

Because it's a sports game? Not really sure how you think this is a good analogy.

dont see a problem with the last name other than well, if the protagonist's family is also in the same room and someone says Ryder. at that point i think the protagonist's title will be used.

"How are you feeling?" works just as well as "How are you feeling, Inquisitor/Hawke/Shepard?"
"Shepard?" "Shepard!?" "Commander..." "S-Shepard?" "SHEPARD!!!" "Commander Shepard." "Shep" "Hey Shep" "Hi Shepard" "Shepaaaard!" "Shep..." "Shep!?" "Hey Commander." "Commander." "Commander!?"
The Fallout 4 name was pretty cool, but I doubt they'd pronounce my name right. I named my character in FO4, Kierro (naturally) but Codsworth goes, "Mr. Kiera! Young Sean needs his father." I was like -_-' it's Kierro... Key-ear-row, not Kiera x_x

Did you honestly expect them to account for a special snowflake name like Kierro?
