So I was rewatching Blade Runner....again....to fuel my never-ending addiction to 80s/90s cyberpunk aesthetic- and then it hit me.

ME took a fair bit from that classic synth style of music, especially in ME1; What would you all think to hearing something like

Yes, 100%. I've been pushing for this for a while. I would love it if they brought in a group like Lazerhawk or Timecop1983 to work on the soundtrack.

I really hate synth. That was probably one of the reasons I found ME1 to be generally lacking in atmosphere - because not only did the music often not add to a scene for me, it often rather subtracted from it. I did not really like this music even in the movies ME tried to emulate.

ME1 had the best music and atmosphere. Hopefully they'll bring it back.

I wouldn't mind if the music was like ME1.  But I also wouldn't mind if it was like ME2.

I'm a fan of synth, but I think the example you provided was maybe a bit too pop-y for planetary exploration. Of course, that's more of a problem with stand alone songs: they don't work well as ambient music because the beat is far too pronounced.

 

I thoroughly enjoyed the music from The Way, though, and I think that's the kind of sound I'd like to hear in Mass Effect.
