I only hope that they don't cut down the ACTUAL game into pieces to make DLCs... (DAI cof, ME3 Cof....) and don't screw up the end of the game...

I'm wary because  Bioware's last 3 games have had issues that left me in a love/hate state,  each for different reasons.

Faith in general is always a bad idea.

Edit.  What I do have is hope.

I'm pretty hyped personally, but I hope they take the criticisms of DAI to heart so we don't end up with a 100 hours of fetch this, fetch that, wrapped around a 30 hour story with yet another lackluster ending. I'd be sorely disappointed if that occurs.

I'm mostly looking forward to ME:A, but my biggest concern is the novels that are coming out, they are & I quote: "The novels will act as prequel and sequels to the events in the games and will become part of the overarching Mass Effect saga. They will focus on key characters and answer the many questions fans have been asking." - source http://www.pcgamer.c...-of-andromeda/#

This says to me that, like in DA:I some of the game content will be lacking as Bioware are expecting you to have read the books & thus they'll only reference it slightly, it really bothered me how Cole was talking like I should have known his past, for one example.

I want the game to be the game & the extended media to be optional only.

the bold section is my biggest concern

Just my opinion.

same here, but will most likely read post playthrough #1 & hope that it's not too important to the game narrative.

I don't know what other people think. I agree the original trilogy was cool, but that's kind of why I'm skeptical here. It's own creator (Casey Hudson) intended that to be the end... and they decided to milk it anyways.

That doesn't mean it won't be good though. I just don't think it has the same intent or vision behind it. Like they're going through the motions and just keeping the franchise alive, just because. I could still play it, but I can't be hyped about things like this.

                                                                                   <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

Throw the titillation about the game, out of the window for a moment. What is left?

The story premise is a solid working base. Add humans and give them hardships. Add a combat trained newbie as leader and focus on the character dynamics of the Team, as the game progresses through its inevitable end. Throw in some Mass Effect "toys", music and some familiar characters to ensure the player identifies it as a ME game. Add 1 tablespoon of new mocap, a pinch of "freedom", a teaspoon of tech search, 1 tablespoon of Helius cluster species, 1 cup of grinding, 1/2 cups of graphics, four tablespoons of  new and mean alien fauna, 1/2 cup of threats, 2 cups of combat levels and 1.5 cups of exploration and nail that ending.

I believe it can be done.

Another reason for me to wait until the game goes on sale.

This is also my only concern (well, and having turians onboard lol, but I'm sure they will... of course they will.... they must be there !).

I want to start MEA with the game. The books should come after. I'm a bit worried to have a prequel book and miss important stuff in the game itself. TBH I think it's a mistake to publish anything before the game is even onsale.

BW was an amazing company pre EA. Now things have slipped. Things like the ending of ME 3 (seemed rushed to complete IMO) The Dragon Age series with chunks cut out for dlc (Shale) etc. All look like a slippery slope, they have gone down. Where it ends is a worry to many. Especially as their attitude seems very much of stuff what the customer wants our direction is fixed no matter how badly fans feel we know better than all..

Things like all that tend to create a bad reception coupled with no information of any sort.
