You just finished Redcliffe, and were told to seek out Genitivi in Denerim city, correct? If so, travel to Denerim and look for his house near the entrance to the elven alienage. It should be opposite to the alienage gate and the tavern.

Yes I started redcliffe then diverted to the mage tower got help of the mages and killed demons then went back to redcliffe then Morrigan killed the demon and now im in Denerim uhhhhhh where are these places??? (sorry if im being stupid first time playing Dragon Age ) ive been to his house and ive been told hes missing but no idea where to go from here

Well, I don't know how well I can explain Denerim to you (as english is not my first language), so have a Denerim map and behold my editing skillz:

Have you found his journal in the back room? It should tell you where to go and open up a new place to travel to.

Talk to the guy there until he either tells you where to go next or tries to kill you.  Either works.
