I had success just by highlighting one then hovering over each one to find it's pair then clicked them.

Later I realized that each one will connect to it's pair via the circuit board in the back ground and the lines will never cross. Made it a lot easier to find the pair.

For the security one, it should be noted, that all matching pairs are on the same line. So if you just follow the line you can find it's pair.

I find the minigames annoying especially on my third play through, tho I am trying to find out a way to disable them all together

I do have a learning Disablity which makes it near impossbile to do these types of mini-games.....

I guess your only option is to get the hack upgrades to double the time. I don't know what kind of disability you have but don't give up, you can do it. There's only a few places in the whole game that actually require it to progress through the story. Everywhere else is just for money, which isn't that hard to come by, really.

Like I said, don't give up

For those people who are playing the game on a PC and who find that their mouse cursor jumps around when they attempt to click on a dot in the bypass mini game, one thing that you could try is to lower the game's screen resolution in the option settings. This made a huge difference to the bypass mini game on my computer.

I initially played the game with a 1600 x 1050 screen resolution. At this resolution I was unable to beat any of the bypass games. Each time I would go to click on a dot in the mini game, the mouse cursor would shoot right past and end up 2-3 cm away from the dot. I was on the verge of uninstalling the game out of frustration when I thought that I would see if lowering the screen resolution might make a difference. I dropped the resolution down to 1152 x 854 and voilà - problem fixed. Now I am able to play the bypass games and beat them consistently.

Another thing you could experiment with is adjusting your mouse settings in the Windows Control Panel. I lowered the movement speed of my mouse cursor via the Control Panel and this made a noticeable improvement to the way my mouse interacts with the game.

Look here, I did not spend all night searching these forums to to get told I have impaired mental faculties! I do not, and I resent the imp;ication. I have majors in history and mandarin, I can write 2000 characters but maths and Some puzzles give me the utter craps and when I cannot do one trying vainly to figure it out just comes up blank'

I have been back in to this first decryption fiasco with some advice I have had replies to tonite that talk about 'rinse' and the spacebar. I highlight the same symbols, I press the spacebar, NOTHING happens,

The cursor does change but no matter what I try NOTHING no progress nix nothing unlocks naught happen with any of the tabs on the right hand side,

Now I can identify the same symbols, I Can remember their positions but it will not work.

Please explain how to do this , pretend I am a simpleton if this is what gets your jollies off just walk me thru the necessary mechanics of what to press, when and what I need to do before.

Someone please.

O_o

Post was directed to the OP which already mentions he has impaired mental faculties.

And you don't press the spacebar, you left click on the symbol. Then you left click on the next corresponding symbol.

I am playing on 1600 x 1050 but my mouse is not jumping all over the screen, just me getting more and more riled by the minute, I hate this in games. Put you on a timer make you jump thru hoops, well not this guy, I'll find a way to bypass this or do it eventually but I refuse to move one more step in this game until I can do and understand just how it is done.

And this is the reason why everything must be dumbed down to stupid levels... slow down everybody else to make sure the slowest person feels accomidated....its a idiotic way of doing things that drags everybody down.

On my system, in the minigame only, my mouse gets all screwy. It slows way down, and the curser randomly moves up or down from where I'm aiming it. It has nothing to do with knowing where the symbols are. I quite literally cannot get my cursor from one side of the screen to the other in the split second needed to click on both buttons while they are still active. The only way through this is to keep repeating until random chance brings the symbols you need close enough together that you can hit both of them. My mouse works perfectly outside of the bypass minigame, so, it is something that they are doing, and obviously it doesn't affect everyones hardware the same way, or you would all be ****ing instead of being disrespectful of the people who are having problems. I have completed the game once already, but this is something that needs to be fixed when you cannot progress through a mission without succeeding at a bypass minigame. Endless repetition is not fun.

Yes when you start the bypass you can hover your mouse over the circles and you will see it's symbol. You'll have to look for the same symbol in one of the other circles. You left click it, and you have another timer, which you must left click the other symbol within that time limit.

Unless you're talking about hacking, which involves the words, in which then you need to use your movement keys to move around to find which box has the same picture as the one on the top left hand corner, and press space bar when your highlight is on the right box.

In the bypass mini game, slide your mouse cursor over a dot to reveal the symbol hiding beneath it (don't click on the dot, just move the mouse cursor over the top of the dot to reveal the symbol).

Now move the mouse cursor to another dot to reveal its hidden symbol (again, do not click on the dot, simply move the mouse cursor over the top of the dot to reveal the symbol).

Once you have found a pair of matching symbols, click on one dot in the pair and then, as quickly as you possibly can, move the mouse cursor to the other dot in the same pair and click on it. You have approximately two seconds to click on the matching dot (a gray border moves around the first dot to show you how much time you have left). If you click on the corresponding dot within the two seconds then (i) a green line will appear on the screen that connects the two matching dots; and (ii) one of the rectangular locks at the right-hand side of the mini game will unlock.

Repeat this process for the three remaining pairs of symbols until all the four rectangular locks at the right-hand side of the mini game are unlocked.

I wish there was a medi-gel option like in ME1... cuz there was this quest where I wasn't able to hack a system open due to huskys that keeps coming at me, and when I finished the quest there was no going back to hack that system. :/

I think I am going to find the line of code to alter this.

How were you supposed to figure this out if you onle got 2 secs response time.

I've had mixed reactions with some of these bypasses. My PC is pretty much mid-range (the only thing that's keeping me from recommended is my video card which is a step down). I played at a windowed 1280x800 and sometimes the bypasses are fairly smooth and I can get them within the time limit (a few times I've gotten down into the red). Other times, I've had frame rate drops which really killed my bypasses. Like some of the others who said here, just do one symbol at a time. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a match for other symbols while looking to match an intended symbol.

@ ajscorpio, you rock mate, I thank you muchly.

As you said but It is too quick and took many goes especially on the ones furthest apart.

In fact I did have a lot of trouble doing this as when I was trying to be precise with the moust pointer it did move too erratically for the deed.

I will try to lower res but I have an inno gtx 275 core 2 duo 3.0 or 3.2 can't remember but should be able to handle this.Only put together last october.

I went back to an old optical laser mouse cause I had a lot of trouble with a wireless intellipoint playing DAO.

Totally off topic

Is anyone have trouble (well it does not seem to be causing problems) just annoying, All night with my ME2 disc in drive and not on windowed mode (ME@ not running) AUTO PLAY keeps starting up all the time and the icon foe ME@ disappeared from from my program menu and replaced by Crysis and I have not played that for 12 mths or more. Win7 and admin right user controls grrr,

You're welcome, glad I could help.

In regards to your Autoplay problem, I wonder if a temporary fix might be to set Autoplay (Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Autoplay) for "Software and games" to "Take no action"?

I have very large issues with the memory mini-game. For symbols that are far away, I can't click on them fast enough for them to register. I generally have to do them 3-5 times before they register and then there isn't enough time to complete the rest of the mini-game.  So it is typical of me to have to do a memory hack lots of times to actually succed.

Then I have found two of these that are required to actually do a mission that seem to be bugged. There is no time listed and they fail immediately (lorek-eclipse station and Korlus). If you can't actually finish the mission, then you are stuck and can't leave the mission either. The first time I ran into this, I ended up having to restart the game from scratch with a new character because I hadn't saved and the only auto save was in the mission. Now I save before entering a mission, so I don't lose to much...

i found both the games pretty easy especially once i got used to some tricks (like as mentioned the matching symbols are connected by lines in the circuit board) but that's just me i can understand how someone else may not be as good at this sort of thing.

I didn't have too many issues with the mini games although I do wish they had some kind of auto-bypass option since the games were annoying, more so that they made it so you HAD to bypass certain doors to move forward in most levels (bad design choice imo). Assuming you guys aren't lagging in the mini-game look in the clustered areas first. There's usually two pairs that are right by each other making it a lot easier to find the rest.

I found them dramatically easier than ME1.

Wtf is so hard about them?

Hacking.  Match the text up.  it has more to do with shapes colors than anything else.

Seriously BOTH of the mini games are basic memory, observation excercises you do with friggin children basically, what disability do you have that prevents you from doing them?

Seriously, no offense but are people these days that inept?  i have it on the computer, WHy on earth it would be easier on a console I have no idea since you have perfect hand eye coordination with the mouse.   these mini games are RIDICULOUSLY easy.   ME1 was far tougher to hack which is probably why they gave you a bypass option.  after my first 2 hacks i was waiting for them to get harder, because of how easy they are but they never did.  How about you never even have to play games anymore they play for you! Better yet watch a movie!

Unplayable? I mean theres like 10 shapes in total and you need to find pairs of two. =/

And you just click on them. With the mouse.
