How would you guys feel if there were no humanoid enemies in MEA? Like all you could fight were crazy looking pre-historic space squids or stuff like that?

And I'm including the alien races like Asari, Turian as "humanoid." I mean literally like irregular non-geometric just... as non-human as you can get.

Taka a look at the trailer... that theory is kinda defunk'd lol

Is it though? They still haven't really showed anything. This whole "New world" could literally mean anything.

Even if it isn't though, is that something people would want to see?

Im sure the universal translator will still translate the alien yells as:

HOLD THE LINE

ENEMY IS EVERYWHERE
etc.

I'd love to see a Squid's barks get translated "I will destroy you!"

For posterity. Somewhat offtopic.

I prefer having all sort of enemies, non-humanoids and humanoids aliens. Diversity always make combats more interesting ;)

  whaaaaaat ? I can't believe I'm reading this.

Wrong, excuse me but only mandibles are welcomed on my bed. Thank you.

I wouldn't want to see all humanoid enemies removed, but it would be interesting to see.  Unfortunately I think there would be too many technical hurdles that could slow down development or risk of being abandoned outright. Looking at the first three Mass Effect games since both the Hanor and Elcor were stationary objects you could interact with shows that BioWare does have some interest in this, but for whatever reason didn't go further with it.

What? No arrogant Batarians/Asari/Humans (and probably bipedal Andromedans) to shoot?

Nope, sorry that wouldn't be cool :( (it would be cool to fight non-humanoide enemies from time to time, but I'd also like to fight some enemies I can relate to and who might taunt me in fight (or who I could - in theory - taunt if such a function existed))

Also: Nothing is more satisfying than popping some arrogant jerks head with a headshot :) - while saying something like:

Running headless into things isn't a great idea, is it?

or:

Don't lose your head ;)

I don't know frankly a lot of crazy looking creatures just freak me out personally, plus a lot of them are pretty hostile (Megaladon shark coming at ya)

A lot of them are the stuff of nightmares IMO, plus it fits perfectly with "new unexplored world."

Besides if you think about it, the Reapers were basically just Space Kraken.

They were more like space cthulhus. Before they turned into the best pimp my ride meme ever, at any rate.

I don't care who I'm shooting, really,  but I hope we'll have a huge variety of weird alien fauna to shoot, and also look at. And maybe adopt as Tempest mascot.

Having more alien, "non-humanoid" species to fight would interesting. But only  having them exclusively?

I actually, like,  hate the idea. A lot. Mass Effect is a cover-based shooter - if maybe that wasn't obvious. Now, the thing with cover-based shooters is: Enemies need to make use of cover. And shoot. I know right?  So, to make use of cover and fire weapons effectively, enemies need to be humanoid. Sure, maybe a four-legged alien dog could use a huge boulder as cover, but it couldn't vault, or peek out and shoot back. Or shoot at all.

I don't know, maybe some people think cover is boring and just want to get close and punch everything (Vanguard, anyone?) Those people would be all for this idea. But I've always played as an Infiltrator, and being able to snipe, and use cover, and be tactical, are things I've cherished.

In each game of the trilogy we have fought more random mercs, pirates, and just random criminals from regular council and non-council races than any completely alien enemies or even the nominal "bad guys."

Yeah, at the very least I'd like to see a lot more non-humanoid enemies as we're already bringing a lot of humanoid races with us to Andromeda. More strange biological attacks or bizarre/technorganic weapons. The more exotic and unexpected, the better. I'd like to see something more than just humanoids firing standard space guns at other humanoids firing standard space guns.
