Hell yes. I mean, sure whatever. Who even cares anymore.
Cyborgs are pretty cool.

I care
machines can hurt people.
So you don't want to play the previous games?
I meant that I didn't want to see Mass Effect become a game primarily about Transhumanism. Star Trek shouldn't try to become Blade Runner. Mass Effect shouldn't try to become Deus Ex. It isn't in a genre (space opera) equipped to really tackle the issues in a deep enough way. And, if anything, Mass Effect is anti-transhumanist (what happens to people who get reaper upgrades?)
Just an offhand note: Ray Kurzweil, the futurist who predicted the internet, thinks that implanting the human body with technology is pretty likely to come into common practice. This century in fact.
There is a difference between tech implants and real, bona fide Transhumanism. Unless you argue that any tech implanted which improves our quality of life is transhumanist. In that regards, transhumanism already exists with hearing aids and prosthetics.
Besides, predicting the future is very difficult, and almost nobody gets it right. I'd be surprised if any one person predicted more than one huge technological advancement which became a huge part of our daily lives the same way the internet has.

Well, Kurzweil also predicted tablets and e-books would appear by 2009. He also thinks artificial general intelligence will be here by 2029.
To answer the OP: No, not because I don't like transhumanism, but because I don't see Mass Effect as the place or game to explore such a deep and convoluted topic. Deus Ex is enough.
You're thinking of Darth Vader, not Shepard.

Technically those things came earlier... MS especially seems to be good at showcasing this stuff before others. They don't market it well though.
They're actually pimping a lot of new AI stuff recently too. I get the feeling they'll be passed by again, as far as ushering it in on a wider scale.
