You need to add a toggle function  to planet scanning I have carpal tunnel but it has typically never bothered me while playing console games.   First of all let me just say planet scanning is seriously not fun.    That being said if you could at least make it so that when i pull the left trigger once the scanner just stays on so that I don 't have to clench the controller for 10-15 minutes at a time while probing the planet it would really make it significantly less physically painful . True it will still be mentally painful but at least it won't be physically causing me pain anymore.  If you don't change this I am not sure I will even be able to finish the game. It really hurts my hands.    Please, please change this it hurts my hands.

Same could be said for the mini map though it would be nice if I could toggle it on or off instead of having to hold the thumb stick  in while using it. Less of an issue though since I don't have to use the mini map for 10-15 minutes at a time.

Yeah, that is tedious to say the least. You need to do it to get the ores for ship upgrades, weapons etc too. The reticle moves soooo slowly. What were they thinking? Hope they can do something.

I agree with the OP. I have pretty severe carpal tunnel too and frequently have to sleep with a specially designed brace on my hand because of it. Adding a toggle is a great idea.

And bringing back the mini-map would be brilliant! I really miss being able to know there are enemies up ahead BEFORE they start shooting me.

I really do not mind that much, but I can see why others might.

yeah, i often have to massage my wrist multiple times just to finish a single planet, a toggle option would definetly improve the scaning mini game.

Until they do something to improve scanning (if they even
bother) you guys could try holding the trigger against your knee or rigging it
to stay down (rubber bands work fine).

I spend 5-20 minutes on a planet looking for things, longer if I really need
something. the longest I spend on a planet took me 27 minutes and I used 73
probes on it, it was boring, it was tiring and it was hard to find all the
small deposits since they barely get noticed by my controller or not at all and
the only thing to give them away is the centimeter that extremely wiggly line
moves up for about a millisecond

seems MS doesn't want me to copy and paste from them any more.

I would edit it but its not letting me, sorry about using so much space

Could the OP please change the topic to something more descriptive than "Bioware please fix this"? It might get more attention with a better title.

I find it's easier on my thumb and overall patience if I

move the scanner thing around and pull the left trigger on and off constantly, only searching for spikes or vibration to find the ORE i need.

not only does it move faster but when you find a decent stash of ore you can then hold the left trigger to fine tune the sweet spot for ORE extraction.
