While I maintain that the logical thing would be to recognize that highly specialized combat marines are not the only intelligent choices for competent explorers, and that other specialities are only permissible, but potentially required. Scientists, for example, will almost certainly be as essential to any colonization efforts as soldiers.

I hope the Scientist has state of the art combat training.

Man, I'd love for the player character to have the background option of being in a scientific field and be able to demonstrate that. I'd be jumping for joy if the player character has the option of expressing some real excitment over discoveries. Seriously, we are going to an unexplored galaxy that contains unknown aliens; if there are no options for the player character to express the excitment that would invoke in some people, I'll be really disappointed.

 

These scientific backgrounds could come with some advantages that would differ from each other like, say, the ones with the background in linguistics has a better time working out the meaning of the alien languages.

You know, it occurs to me that for all their vaunted "training" and "equipment" - pound for pound, N7s are likely less effective than most comparable forces kicking around council space.

 

Instead of N7, we should really be trekking out with a squad of asari huntresses or krogan BMs.

Shep was N7 and he could take on Krogan with ease and he wiped out a whole asari commando unit along with M Benez. Shep would wipe the floor with Wrex. Only thing is he's my friend. I'd assume Ryder would be no different. we are the protagonist, what we say and do goes. Anyone gets in my way is dead. Science? I'll be too busy clearing the Khet from Remnant vaults.

I have. It's so much though. Ok. Where to begin. I'll give you some. 2014 comic con panel. Stuff subject to change but everything seems relatively the same. We saw our hero, a male and a female. Male with red N7 armor, Female with blue. It's blurry but you see it on the sleeve. I was watching this bio video from same year. Same helmet as at panel. It wasn't N7 dudes from 2015. Different. Same armor but with an attachable chest thing and the cloth was orange. So it's customizable. On the sleeve of the right arm we see N7. 2015 some Dev says dude in the trailer is not PC. I don't believe him. Here why. From the info I gathered from the Reddit leak which is basically confirmed at this point we see that we have named squadmates Cora, blonde biotic able to make a biotic sphere shield, and Drak. We see N7 dude on Tempest because of TMP, him and two others riding around in the mako, all three fighting Khet. I find it odd that we see one N7 guy with two confirmed squadmembers and a mako that we control, he and his squad are the center piece and he's not the protag? We'll leave the family stuff out for now. Let's go back to gameplay leak after random Krogan uses the pollen grenade on Drake before he could drop his new album, we see dude(N7 dude with helmet off) with Cora(she has a blonde hair with a ponytail and armor matches 2015 trailer and drak Krogan with bayonet on his gun) we see guy in N7 armor(I got a good look, it was the N7 armor) being controlled with jetpack and on top hud we see a mako symbol. Dudes obviously playable. Now 2016 we see N7 dude with orange on his armor instead of original red. That's us customizing armor color? We see Ryder in same armor but white and blue colors sporting the AI symbol. Default Armor?We also see her fighting with Drak( has bayonet on gun) and unknown soldier, different suit from Cora. We see N7 dude with helmet and attachable chest pack thing with a Krogan dropping Drake off a platform. Why does he have helmet and chestpiece on? Customization? Of course nothing is set in stone but that is most of the evidence to support my theory. This is purely opinion but N7 is an iconic symbol for bioware. N7 day falls on November 7. They care enough to make a day. The show us an N7 in the game and all over the trailers. But as I always say..... we'll just have to wait and see on N7 day for new info. P.S. mind the typos. I mean there was N7 on the armor so they have to likely be part of the program. About the dev I don't know. I mentioned that you see N7 with two of our squadmates on the Tempest, riding around in the mako, fighting Khet. I just got a feeling. Hopefully we find out what's really happening on N7 day.

I've seen a couple of codes throughout the BTS trailer and I believe they are all manufacturing codes of different companies/organizations.

A product number? Weapons have numbers on them, to help keep track of where they come from. Could this not be the same thing.

And I'm not saying where the guy wearing it comes from. Just where the helmet was made.

The engine can account for more detail. Why not add little things like a product number onto it?

On another note.

I don't think that that is us. We've already been N7. We don't need Shepard 2.0. This is the opportunity to explore Mass Effect from another perspective. Not as a soldier but as a scientist. Not "shoot first ask questions later" but "ask questions first and don't fire at all".

N7 is important to Mass Effect. That doesn't mean we can only play as an N7. It's enough that N7 are part of the current universe. It's enough that N7 has a pretty large role. Their importance to Mass Effect as a whole isn't going to be lessened because we don't have that designation on our chest.
