Thanks guys
Then I guess it's not worth it to try out and I'll YT the scenes at some point.
Renegade shepard is a tool?

Well, if you only plan on having one more playthrough, then yeah just YT. But if you plan to keep playing, it wouldn't hurt to try it out.
Cool avatar btw ![]()

Weeeell, I plan to keep on playing
So maybe I can truly try someday. Maybe I can actually pull off a full Renegade PT at some point, even though I'm reluctant to do so ![]()
Hehe, thanks! I remember you were a huge Jack fan! I have just finished a playthrough with her romance a couple of days ago and it was so damn beautiful (also very sad because I killed off my Shep
).

That is indeed very sad
I can't do it... I can do it on other characters though.

I have chosen Morinth once. That was more to hear/see the difference and to get her bonus power. I believe she ended up dying on the suicide mission. No big loss.

Another thing about Samara is if you are a renegade she will say that she feels no "connection with you." She mentions that if she wasn't sworn to you, her code would demand she kill you. But if you are a paragon, she will be flattered by your advances but turn you down gently. Kinda funny coming from a renegade character.
I personally feel like a pure paragon is more of a tool/punching bag than anything. My preferred way of playing is to generally be a nice person and help as much as possible, but with limits. Some of the renegade choices are too appropriate or awesome not to choose. Renegade speech at the Collector base is a good example. I personally love ending Geth/Quarian war with renegade. And putting a stop to Tali/Legion's fighting in ME2 with the renegade line is amazing. It is actually extremely well acted by Meer in that scene.

It's funny that she was originally written by the same guy who did Jack (Brian Kindregan), as well as Grunt... and Morinth obviously. I suppose he might've intended her to be his Paragon character.
Yet she isn't quite that in practice.

Out of those, Grunt is by far the most Paragon. Heh, calling a Krogan the Paragon of the bunch, how despicable are they?! ![]()
Actually, considering his origins (his genes and his educator), he's a pretty stand up guy. tbh, very few of Shepard's companions are even remotely Paragon.

I'm roleplaying Shep a little more than I usually do. Usually, I'm 100% paragon unless I really hate someone. I typically max out the paragon bar and end up with about 15% renegade. This time around, I'm using gibbed to keep my scores even so I can max out both. This is allowing me to play a Shep that is sick of the Alliance/Council's **** and just wants to see results. I keep my friends close so am nice to them, but I'm playing like I haven't got time to be messed about by anyone else. I was very close to either shooting or leaving behind Jacob's dad as I don't see any excuse for what he did.
Also, I'm not using the interrupts this playthrough at all and it has been fun seeing how things play out without them.

I play Renegade, but I still find letting the crew punch him out (and doing God knows what to him later). If the victims are there, might as well let them have their shot. ![]()

I'll have to youtube that option. Keen to see what happens! It seems that it's very to do the loyalty quests and not gain their loyalty...
EDIT: Just watched it, not as good as I hoped, but the music was fitting. Does doing the loyalty mision = loyalty, or can it fail? I'm sure I've done Zaeed's and not gained it as I didn't have enough morality points or something...

I don't know if youtube does it justice... Heh... the sound of the punch is great when you play. Kind of makes me flinch.
Most of time, just doing it earns loyalty... if I recall. Some are more complicated, like Zaeed, Jack, Thane, Samara..
edit: Scratch that, most are complicated. Jack and Miranda's fight can cancel loyalty. Legion and Tali's fight too.

I just want to bang their heads together and tell them to stop being stupid, and threaten to leave them BOTH on some uninhabited planet if they don't knock their BS off. (Applies to both pairs).

I only feel that way about Legion and Tali. I think Jack is clearly in the right. I know I'm a little biased, being a big Jack fan, but still.. Cerberus is screwed up. Miranda doesn't need to be a cheerleader for them. She figures that out eventually, if she does survive. They experiment on their own kind.. they don't support humans. And she probably knows that about Jack too.. but is too proud to admit at the time.

What Cerberus did was wrong, but that doesn't give Jack the right to disrupt the harmony of my ship for her own hurt feelings. Jack and Miranda constantly arguing leaves me with no patience for either of them at that point.

I think Shepard can create an entirely new harmony of their own if they want. It wouldn't hurt the morale of the crew in general. That last scene at the table before the suicide mission pretty much sums it up. No one cares for Miranda giving orders. She's not liked by anyone.
Ideally though, I'd prefer she lived and learned.

That's just simply not true.
I, for one, find it distasteful. Game would be better off without it, and if it wasn't for her Sentinel-like powers, I'd say the game would be better off without her (her powers being her only redeeming feature for me).

I stand corrected.

I think she serves a good role, to be serious. I wouldn't want to see her taken out. There's something to be said for Colonial/Human Defense and rights. The problem is Cerberus turns on their own kind. Case after case of it. That's why Jack shouldn't just shake hands and act like nothing happened. And Miranda realizes it herself too, at Sanctuary.

I haven't got that far with ME3 yet. I keep trying, but the SP Is such a chore. Way too many fetch quests and blahblah dialogues that aren't even interesting.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a JRPG player (and have been for a long time), I'm all for dialogue and side-quests, I just don't find ME3's SP engaging.
The MP on the other hand.... I love it, despite its many bugs.
I'm one of those horrible people who don't like Mass Effect 1, either.
ME2 though, that there is one of the best games ever made.
So, in my narrow experience. There is nothing wrong with being pro-human, or human-centric, but Cerberus is neither. Cerberus are just selfish, and a reflection of TIM himself. It's quite obvious that the Lazerus Project and the SR2 Crew were specifically chosen to make Cerberus look less douchey to Shepard. And whilst I try to save the crew every time, it's because they're worth saving, each and every crewmember of the SR2 put their lives on the line for the mission. Outside the SR2 Crew, I don't see a difference between Cerberus and the various Merc Bands, neither does anything beneficial for the galaxy without a self gain, and at least the Merc Bands are easily bought.

I'm considering that at least for ME2, if I do future series playthroughs with more elaborate RP, I will just use a point editor as well. Maybe not ME3 (Para/Rene is easy enough there) or even ME1( Para/Rene is not so much a big deal), but ME2 can be VERY annoying in this regard.

Yes ME2 onward, we're given examples of Cerberus persons that are not as evil and/or corrupted and/or compromised as the Illusive Man.
This is part of a case I think there is for Cerberus, in some form or name, still being in MEA. As long as there isn't any/too much of them that so actively (indoctrinated effects?) sabotage humanity, there's room for a story with other characters. I think we're given characters like: Kelly, Gabby and Ken, Maya, Oleg, Brynn, etc, all to show that there's various different people with their own motivations for working under or even believing in the core cause of Cerberus (advancing/ascending humanity, not just defending it). Many of them become either horrified (like Kelly), disturbed (like Maya), or at least just tolerate (like Oleg) the direction the Illusive Man was going with Cerberus, and I don't think its an accident that the writers included the bit where TIM claims Cerberus is an idea, even if its trilogy/ME2-ME3 incarnation was founded and controlled by the Illusive Man (though arguably the Reapers themselves, by degree of separation).
All this is being said in a 'like it or not, this is a possibility' way, just so everyone knows.

I probably should do that, but at this point, I think I've played so much I've sort of settled on a timing on how I do things.
Although I haven't played in awhile, so I probably forgot how to do some of it.
