I haven't played it, but I've watched gameplay videos. It doesn't seem fun at all to me. You open packs and you get random crap characters, like the various NPCs you see as background models, or the kind of enemies you kill at random out in the combat maps. Ash Warrior lv1, Dalish Archer lv1, Wolf lv1, Spider lv1, Circle Mage lv1.

Then you go through stages with recycled backgrounds and fight typical enemies. All battles are automatic based on each character's stats. There's no strategy aside from how you place your characters in your party, and what kind they are.

You either win or you lose, and if you win you get more points to spend on new packs with a chance of getting better characters.

You power up your current characters by having them absorb similar characters. So if you want to power up a level 2 warrior, you have him absorb some level 1 warriors you "won" when you opened the packs.

It isn't like you get to just select all your favorite characters from the game and power them up and take them on meaningful adventures with lore texts and real rewards like new weapons or armors.

If you have some time to waste, go ahead, but it's designed to give you crap characters unless you pay money for better character packs.

Might as well try it since it's free. It'll be a slow start though; it takes a while to build up enough good characters.

I've sunken some time into the game (during commute, etc.), and I recommend against getting it. The tutorial is super annoying and lasts forever, the tiny number of points make sure you cannot play it for more than 3 minutes at a time (unless you pay for more turns), and luck decides whether you will breeze through the levels, or struggle with the most basic fights. I restarted the game after getting frustrated, got a legendary hero at the beginning, and basically won everything without paying attention.

The missions end pretty fast, and then you just fight other users (which is super easy, because you see stats and can predict, if you'll win), and collect more heroes. It's the very opposite of BW games - instead of story, characters, and so on, you get mindless clicking and collecting for the sake of collecting.

But that's my opinion, people love games like this and Fallout Shelter (another one, which wore me out very quickly), so you should probably try it out for yourself.
