This is a question to PS3 and PC gamers, since I'm pretty sure every single XBox player will state that they only ever use XBox Controllers.

What controllers do PC players use with MGamerz mod? XBox for ease of connectivity and drivers? Or do any of you use DS3/DS4? Or even DS2? I haven't seen an adapter for DS2 for quite a while, but those were great with Emulators, back in the day. Or maybe you use some aftermarket Logitech if you managed to find one without deadzone?

And more to the point:

Do you PS3 Players use DS3, or DS4 controllers? I've heard a lot of good things about the DS4 from friends playing other games, and since Sony has been working on improved compatibility with PS3 games, I'm thinking of maybe upgrading to DS4 instead of buying more DS3s, since some of the controllers are getting a little... old now, and the prices are basically the same.

To those that do use the DS4 with their PS3, how do you find the performance in-game? Not like stuff like the PS/XMB button not working, but things like button and stick sensitivity. The short time I spent holding the controller suggested the sticks have less travel distance (meaning more sensitive), is this true? Do they have any deadzone problems?

DS4 is better than DS3 in every way, apart from the PS button not working, which only affects text chat capabilities, and I keep a DS3 beside me in case I need to do that. No deadzone problems, unlike all my DS3s. That said, because I'm masochistic, I still probably prefer using my battered old DS3 because of vibration feedback and general muscle-memory - I have triggers, buttons and a skin on my DS3, which improves it greatly. I still can't run more than a couple of steps at a time but hey, running is for people with too little time on their hands  ;)

I can't help with the pc mods question, but am equally keen to see any responses, as I am another of those weirdos who prefers the DS3/4 to the 360 controller.  :D

Then we're both weird. I've owned and played both XBox and XBox 360 to death, and I much prefer Sony's controllers, though I've had less build quality issues with XBox controllers, I'll admit that much.

As to the PC stuff, I don't have ME3 on PC, but figured since MGamerz made it possible to use a controller with it (And a few BSNers do just that), that they might have a preference or experience with the DS4.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. :)

This one is the best;

en-APAC_L_Xbox360_Controller_Chrome_Gold

This one is second best and what I use on PC because it's wired by default and I forgot how to make Gold 360 above with a third party wire register on my PC again. (PS - this black wired has a total garbage D-Pad. As in only good for hotkeys, so good enough for ME3mp in my case);

ja-MSJP_L_Xbox360_Controller_S9F-00004_R

This is the third best. Sadly still not as ergonomic as X-Box 360, but massive improvement or DS3.

A PSP D-Pad overlay...

... fixes the terrible rat holes in the Sony D-Pads (including PSP I have) so you have a center pivot vital for more precise movement in classic 2D games yours truely still enjoys and plays regularly. But when I play classic 2D games on PC via emulation, I use a Sega Saturn USB controller;

USBcontroller.jpg

And finally, my least fave D-Pad in every catergory (except D-Pad with overlay which makes it one of the best D-Pads ever);

Now to discuss analog stick prowess of aiming skills. Which falls in the same order as listed above still. The DS4 comes very close to the 360 in analog stick (short and with more resistance) VS DS3 (too long with almost no resistance). The 360 analog placement is preferred by me too. No matter how long I play ME3mp with DS3, I always am total garbage at aiming. No matter how long I play with DS4, I still don't come as close to 360 aiming skills. This is main reason I moved away from PS3 ME3mp during last PS3 session. The fact that I know I can aim better but controller is holding me back.

One extra flaw with DS4 is that it's a little too wide. First time holding one feels like a bike handle.

^ That's surprising, regarding the size - I tried the DS4 last week in a shop, and didn't feel like much difference to DS3 sizewise. Grippiness felt good, and the sticks. Didn't see it in action though, so can't say anything for the movement on screen.

Then again, the Xbone ones feel way too big for my hands, just couldn't use them without cramping. Xbox ones are out of the question anyway, as they won't work with ps3.

Would be happy to hear more experiences from you guys, if have insight to that DS4 stick movement speed or other views.

I thought you were talking about switching over to PC.

On the cramping your fingers part, the only controller that do this to me are the DS3 and PSP slim (of which for PSP slim the combination of a D-Pad overlay and thicker batter cover for fatter battery = comfortable to hold PSP fat once again :P ... because... reasons).

I use a PS3 controller to play ME3 MP. I've tried to play with a PS4 pad for a few weeks, but finally came back to the good old one, as I clearly felt that I aim better with it. If the PS4 controller is better (what I'm not convinced of yet), for me it's certainly not by a sufficient margin to overcome hundreds (well, thousands actually) of hours of playing with the PS3 one.

As for the X-Box controller, I don't get it. Why is the damn thing so big ? Is it a console designed for giants ?  :huh:

My hands are definitely not small, and I always had trouble with the XBox controller. Shape and Layout are both wrong. Though, most XBox users say the same about Sony's controllers.

As to PSPs, I used to have one. Gave it away for free once I'd had enough of it (As in, once PSP emulation got good enough). Clearly designed for children, who's hands are that small?!

If anybody remembers the Lynx, that was the best handheld ever designed (And full colour whilst the competitors were still struggling with monochrome).

Lol no, when i bought the game i had 3 xbox360 wireless controllers but ME3 was too accurate with the deadzones meaning i would strafe away very slowly sometimes with out touching the controller. After buying 2 new ones and getting it again after 3 or 4 months i bought a razer sabertooth which had no problems.

You guys must have very small hands. The 360 controller is a perfect fit for my paws. With the DS3 the entire weight of the controller is held by the index and pinky fingers in an awkward curl to hold the entire controller by the bottom of it's two pointy and pokey ergonomic shaped wings. Meanwhile the 360 controller weight is supported much more evenly across your entire hand due to very snug ergonomic shape.

One point in the DS4, even though much more ergonomic then DS3, is that the wings are now too fat from the center to end for your pinky and index fingers to grasp properly. So in a nutshell, Sony put in charge a bunch of mutants or animals of their ergonomic department.

I also hear the wireless connection of Sony gamepads have more delay then the Microsoft ones due to still using old bluetooth technology or something. Not that this bothers me since I always plug my controllers in to avoid any extra delay with EA connections doing enough picking up the slack for me in this department.

You can use the PS4 controller on the PS3 (the PS button will not work though).

I don't use controller for ME3 or any shooter or 3rd person action game for that matter but I do have a Xbox 360 controller.  It's great for me mostly just for fighting games, sports games or platformers though.

All I know is that I need a new controller for my 360 because the joysticks are shot beyond repair and it WAS because I played this game so much. Pretty much why I don't really take infiltrator/sniper rifle characters anymore because aiming just becomes a pain. Oh, and staying in cover too because nothing is worse when trying to shoot from cover and suddenly you're walking sideways away from the wall into enemy crossfire.

Do you use the rocker switches on the bottom of your Sabertooth?  Or did you take them off?

Seems like a handy way to re-map the RB & LB buttons...keeping the index fingers on the triggers.

Not sure, i stopped playing on the 360  2 years ago, 6 months ago i started playing mouse/KB on the PC again i remember that i really liked the controller though, it felt more accurate then the the wireless controller.

The game seems to have smaller deadzones then any other xbox game i played.
