How a bout a board with a nail on it?

irop3.gif

Maybe the natives have these, that would make them terrifying.

Go play Fallout if you want a board with nails in it.

I wonder if we'll be able to dual wield some of the weapons. Like the pistols or "smaller" SMGs.

I really want more meelee weapon options . What I could see happening would be changed and upgrade/modification options you could make to the Omni Blade like a long sword , katana , or even battle hammer or battle axe.

I'd also like to see the non-Omni blade counter parts
Even throwing knives etc.

One more thing that I think would be cool would be a bow and arrow esc weapon or crossbow.

I know of one perfectly good reason they wouldn't: AK-74.

There are already AK - 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 107, 108 and the most recent one: AK - 12. As well as AN - 94 (aka Abakan) and AEK-971. But hell yeah, I'd like to see the good old AK's successor(s) in Andromeda.

The other BSN obsession: dual wield.

If the protagonist is some sort of gang member or kid who likes to look cool, then fine. But if it's someone with military training as Shepard was, then it makes little to no sense at all.

Sideways pistol: confirmed.

Funny should you mention those. I'm absolutely certain some of those are 7.62x39 revisited, and at least one should be chambered in 5.56x45 NATO. As for the Abakan and the AEK, those are not AKs.

Abakan should have a completely different feeding, despite still being gas-operated. The AEK is another proposed replacement for the AK-74M rifles, but also differs. It is further more available in 5.45x39, 7.62x39 and 5.56x45, hence me dropping the number.

They have also not been designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov (G. Nikonov and S. Koksharov are the designers, respectively) and thus are not "Kalashnikovs".

Plus, I just prefer the 74N, because of the old-school factor as well as the superior (open to interpretation and personal taste) look of the 5.45x39 30Rnd mag, and the flash hiders/compensators (DTK beats out the cut muzzle of the AKM any day and twice on sunday to me). As for 74N instead of 74M... WOOD. Wooden furniture goes a long way with me. Basically doesn't need to be an N, but scopes and collimator sights are cool.

The Czech prefers an AK, meanwhile I'm Russian and love my Vz. 58. :)

Though favourite rifle is my Serb Stronk Zastava M76.

I still like the FN-FAL best. 7.62x51 in a package that recoils less than a 7.62x39 AK and is just as reliable but with much more accuracy and better sights. Its heavy, but thats about it.  ;) The FAL is basically the ME Mattock in real life.

I'm expecting...or maybe just hoping, that MEA provides more customization options to allow us more uniqueness.  In the past Bioware has tended to give the base game sucky weapons and armor in an attempt to manipulate gamers into buying better versions.  It's really sad that they cannot find more creative ways to generate additional revenue.  I have no problem buying extra content but I need more substance than "better arms and armor."

Fine, you go ahead! Find me a suitable Vz 58 replica that can match the dozens of AKM and AK74 replicas on the market. (No, you're not finding anything that matches E&L.)

Or better yet, wait for me to get a firearms license. That's a 58 right there. Or the semi-auto variant, because the real deal is a Category A, Military Only.

But yes, should I get an AK (real one, that is) I'd get a 74 with wood. Same for the 58 - wood.

There's also one tiny factor about the 58... it never changed calibers. It's still the 7.62x39, and we used that round up until the replacement with CZ805 (which is a 556 NATO) began.

I haven't really said otherwise, but I'll clarify: My firearms knowledge remains strictly theoretical for the time being. Until I stop putting off that range visit. My preferences stated above also hold true, should we speak about AKs only. Otherwise I have this nasty tendency to orient towards the Vz 58 or the HK416, one because looks, and the other because that national pride feeling. I'm sure you can tell which is which :P

(I didn't speak of what caliber I prefer, right? Because I can't judge. Though if I were to guess, I'd say 5.56 or 5.45)

Speaking of guns, I hope they'll upgrade the sounds a little bit, most of the guns in ME, and guns in video games in general, sound weak.

One could argue its because they're not using traditioal propellants (gunpowder), but in my humble opinion guns must be loud and spectacular, even in the future  ;)

Also environmentally, things should be flying around in a firefight, concrete chunks, dust, sparks, glass shards and all the sweet stuff that makes combat more spectacular, especially when explosion happens. ME was really on the ''clean'' side.

A popular example for excellent gun sounds:

Ye, guns are tools. Exchangeable. Not like the characters. I like tools that complement character abilities or mix up the gameplay.

I agree on that actually..

Although I wish guns were unnecessary on some builds. Like if pure classes could be just that (much like pure soldiers don't need powers).

But that's another story. Carry on...

Ye, Krogan only need headbutt and some pole maybe to strike enemies.

A Justicar only need her mind to burn them in hot blue fire and watch them wither in the flames.

I own guns myself, they're much more than tools. I'm far more attached to my favorite rifle than my favorite pliers or screwdriver.

Each gun has its own character and the less you treat it as a mere tool the more accurate you're going to be.  ^_^

This may sound a little nutty to you but boy, without wanting to boast I am superb marksman.

lol.. I'd like to say that about my guitars too, but in the end, they're just instruments. Craftmanship still matters, of course.. there are good tools and bad tools.

Damn right. They got feelings, and don't you dare insult your rifle.

After all, this is your rifle. There are many like it, but this one is yours.

Your rifle is your best friend. Without you, your rifle is nothing. Without your rifle, you are nothing.

...and that's all I remember of the Rifleman's Creed.

I'll never stop carrying the torch for a gunless Punch/Hammer-guard class. I barely used my shotgun in Mass Effect 3 anyway.
