If I romanced Liara in ME 1, but was unfaithful to her in ME 2, what are the consequences for that romance in ME 3? I have read from other forums that bad things will happen, but not too sure about that.
Thank you for your responses!

She wants you to break up with your ME2 romance partner, otherwise she won't be available.

There are no real consequences. The banter during the scene before assaulting TIM's base is very slightly different.
Thank you both for your answers!!
I used to think Liara's 'It's so nice we can get together like this as FRIENDS" (Liara's emphasis) in the Citadel DLC party to be a dig at the player for breaking up with her, but she says that as long as the player isn't romancing her in ME3 regardless of previous arrangements.

It almost seems like Liara is looking for a way to break up with Shepard in ME3. I can recall at least three times Liara refers to Shepard as a "friend" in a romance, including that horribly written lock-in scene. Plus, she has very little romance content outside the very beginning and very end of the game. It makes you almost forget you're in a relationship with her. And a quick peck on the cheek? She Shepard's grandmother? lol

It was all the more jarring the first time I played through ME3. I played ME3 about a year after release and got LOTSB just before I started. Played through it with my original canon ME2 femshep, was very pleased at the well written, emotional reunion and then get to ME3 and it's like it never happened outside of a few passing references. Friendzoned again, back to square one. Pretty much ensured that my femsheps gravitate towards Traynor after that. ![]()

I clung to many faithful-throughout-the-trilogy Liaramancers because of how well written LotSB was. I'd argue that cabin scene is the best in the trilogy. Sadly, the writers largely forgot about Liara in ME3, and when there was content, it usually wasn't very good.
What's also strange is how the "romance exclusive" content is so subtle that I didn't even realize it was such until I didn't romance her.
Ex: After the Mars mission on the Normandy when discussing the crucible, she says "Shepard" instead of "Commander" at one point if in a romance
Ex: After Thessia, Tali says "She really needs you right now" to Liaramancers. It felt like Tali remembered Shepard was romancing Liara when Liara had forgotten.
Ex: After Thessia, Shepard says "You'd never do that" instead of "You had nothing to do with..." when talking to Liara. This is just a paraphrasing! The after-Thessia scene was a huge missed romance content opportunity.
Ex: Liara puts her hand on Liaramancer's shoulder in Leviathan during the mission when looking for Garneau
While, overall, Liara got the most LI material throughout the trilogy, ME3 really felt like an afterthought to the writers.
