Mass Effect 2 arguably is tied with 1 in my eyes. Shep running to the Normandy is awesome. I also like telling illusive man to **** off.Mass Effect had the best ending
Mass Effect 3 had the best start

ME2 had a good start.
You're given a second life and see your future ex-girlfriend.
Like I said, I'm not going into that here.

I'd prefer that this game actually have a strong ending that wraps up the story, without some pesky sequel hook to leave us dangling for a few years while BioWare puts the next game together. That being said, I get the feeling that Ryder won't be a single-game character. Not necessarily a trilogy, but I think that our PC and new ship will be around for 2 titles at least.

The ending must have big explosions with team america's song in the background and our protagonist wearing a cowboy hat escaping from the baddies on the back of a feral hanar...
you know, all of that to make it strongest than a bottle of ryncol

I hope they don't do a Trespasser where we have to wait and pay for the real ending.

Cliffhangers are cool for shows, because you'll get the next episode in a week. Kind of lame with games... 3 or 4 years of waiting. If they even get made. lol
I liked it when RPGs didn't bother with all the import crap, but that's probably asking too much.
At least ME2 cliffhanger was epic, well done and made sense.

Love that ending reason I said a cliffhanger would be good. That said since this is the first or last game in Andromeda maybe a straight forward ending would be for the best. Especially after well you know.At least ME2 cliffhanger was epic, well done and made sense.

I'm starting to think Bioware needs to start with a grand, epic ending (ME2/DAO were the last,) and work backwards. It seems like the last few games they've had to rush the endings because they ran out of time...whether that's from being too ambitious, EA executive pressures, or a combination, the endings have been pretty disappointing of late. I'd like to see something more in the vein of ME2 where you get to deploy your team in different ways to accomplish the mission. The entire Omega 4 relay / Collector base was boss (well, except for the human reaper...that was kind of dumb.) I want to bring my resources to bear...especially if they're going to stress the importance and make me grind and grind and grind. If they don't then all that grinding was pointless.
Don't bother to upgrade your base, people and squadmates die. Don't improve your peoples arms and armor, people and squadmates die. Don't do any of the requisite steps, everyone dies...maybe the PC too. That's what it takes to make all the other stuff worthwhile.

Mass Effect 2
Greatest game ever with best final mission
Weak as f ending
You have a meeting with TIM and see Reapers
I still get chills when I hear that music and see the Reapers on the edge of the galaxy. I've played it more than 5 times. That makes a strong ending for me.

Only ME1 had a strong ending? Um, what?
ME2 had the most badass ending in the whole series. The music, the collector ship blowing up, the dramatic run to the Normandy and the last conversation with TIM all beats that.
Although, I bet they're going to play it super safe in this game.

I forgot that ME2 did kind of end on a cliffhanger note.
At least until Arrival screwed it up. I remember when I first finished ME2 and I got the sense that I had the bulk of my "real team" there.. like my Shep was finally out on his own and he'd build alliances starting with this foundation.
Boy was I wrong.. It was back to the Alliance and barely any of that crew for me.

The Suicide Mission pretty much ensured that this wouldn't happen, because that would be a lot of mutually exclusive content for both those characters and their stand-ins. Legion and Mordin were pretty much the extent of that.

And it sucked.
Like I've said many times, I'm not an ending hater, but I remain a little bitter because of the crew. My only real friend in ME3 was Javik.. misery loves company.

Javik is the best friend around, don't feel bad. I ditched tons of my old crew friends to take Javik with me everywhere because he said the funniest junk.

Shepard's death was the dumbest thing ever.
The only purpose it served was so that they had a logical reason for the CC.
But then again, ME 2 served no purpose at all, except playing Dr Phil for the crew.

To be honest, I was glad to only get Garrus and Tali back. I wouldn't have minded keeping Grunt though, since we had a serious lack of krogan. As for the rest, I barely used them and a lot of them made more sense to be NPC's after that.

I get it. I don't imagine my frustration makes much sense then.
I think Jack and Tali are kind of friends. And Garrus is fun with them too. They're all kind of friendly in my mind. So it sucks to not see it live up to its potential.
Whoever you like though, they had a wealth of material, and it got squandered. I don't know any other series (games, books, movies, tv, etc) that gets smaller and quieter over time.

I wasn't. Garrus adds nothing to ME3 whereas all the others add something even if its only as a war asset
All Bioware did is showed that they favored the ME1 characters over the ME2 characters. ME3 is ME1 Part 2

Well, like I said, I liked Javik... and he's got none of the ME1 feel to him. He's like a byproduct of ME2. In a way, similar to Sam and Steve. They're all kind of reminders of that story. But it still doesn't fill the gap for me. I needed some real ME2 squaddies.

I do not agree. I really don't care about stand alone installments like in dragon age. I stated.it in a comment above. I dont care about the person because they are mostly irrelevant in other games. I don't care about the warden. He only mentioned a few.times. I don't care about Hawke. It doesn't really matter if he dies or not, it doesn't matter. And the inquisitor, he'll probably be irrelevant in the next game anyway. They aren't you. You make choices for them one game and in the next they are just another NPC outside your control. I believe another trilogy is best for Ryder. Romances too. I'm gonna romance some girl for what? Nothing. Its pointless. Then if I'm somebody else in the future I can't romance them because they romanced that dude from the first game. That's the beauty of the ME trilogy that DA can't get. You grew, your squad grew, your romances grew, your choices mattered more than a stand alone.
I also liked the trilogy format for the same reason. Over the three games and through finding out what might carry over from game to game... I became more and more invested in my own PC. If they hope to leave themselves room to do a Trilogy, they will probably leave some unfinished "holes" at the end of this first game so that they can do a second game that does carry some issues forward. An issue with ME1 was that the ending wrapped everything except the possibility of 1 ongoing romance and the Reaper threat... hence the decision to make ME2 divert off in another direction almost entirely to stretch the series out into 3 games without causing the entire Reaper threat thing to become tedious and boring. As it was, even with the diversion of ME2, some people joke about Shepards "the Reapers are coming" lines lasting over two games.
Depends on what you define as a "strong" ending... and "strong for what purpose" - carrying on to a multigame series, carrying on to a specific Trilogy, or wrapping everything in 1 game. The nature of the ending will tell us whether or not we're likely to see a second game that carries the same characters on in Andormeda.

It lasted less than 5 minutes, it hardly made an impact.
Although, I don't know why so many hate it. It was just there for something to kill off. You know, a final boss fight? ME3's final mission kind of forgot what those are.

I'm convinced there's a systemic issue in the industry with this. Honestly, very few games, especially big ones, have strong endings. For whatever reason, development is such that this gets bungled more often than not. ME1 is a rare exception.

ME3's final mission forgot to even have a mission at all. It's like some beta test map or something... barely any squad talk, no interaction with other teams (let alone the galactic force you brought with you). Very lackluster way to end the Battle to End All Battles.
