You have to understand that one of the reasons everyone has terrible lego hair is power. People will need to be able to play bioware games on consoles and midrange pcs. They could have amazing hair on everyone but it would make the game a lot more demanding and only those with powerful pcs would really be able to enjoy it.

 

Maybe it's an issue with the frostbite engine that makes flowing locks harder to render.

 

Look at Tomb Raider, the hair there was awesome but that had far fewer characters on screen at once and far smaller areas.

 

That being said, they definitely could have done better in inquisition and the shiny glitch was pretty bad.

Mass Effect was certainly nothing great in terms of hair, but DAI easily had the worst options overall. I thought ME3 was actually OK, but admittedly DA2 was probably my favorite overall.

Don't get why long hair is a problem just remove it when wearing a helmet or give a default ponytail during battle. Hopefully there are enough crappy hair threads for Bioware to finally pay attention.

the hair from DAI is utter rubbish for a game of that level. MEA doesnt look much better based on femryder's hair.

Yep, sadly enough subpar hairstyles are expected at this point.
