Paragon Shepards should probably mind her complete invasion of other people's privacy, before and after becoming the shadow broker. I can see renegades justifying it as a necessary evil.

 

The problem is neither Shepard nor the crew seem to care she uses her power to learn completely irrelevant things to the war effort, like what sex toys Tali buys or Zaeed's preference for whiskey. Even when the former is mentioned on the geth dreadnought, Tali doesn't even get enraged by Liara's extensive knowledge on the subject.

 

Liara learning about that one night stand with Jack without even being on the Normandy is also pretty creepy...

I could imagine some paragons thinking the shadow broker's resources are too unethical and too powerful for any one person to possess.

Perhaps it's like opening Pandora's box.  If BioWare dug too deep into the power of the SB then we'd be wondering why many many more things could therefore happen.  Why not use her resources much more?  Why not dig into all the secrets?  Why not use all the agents as part of the Alliance and liaise with them?

It could get messy, so maybe it's better to hold back and not dwell on it too much.

Oh so that's what nerve stim pro is, I'd seen it in the dossiers in the SB's ship but didn't realise the significance.

 

I just played with Liara and Tali, Liara being romanced, and never got that dialogue.  Perhaps cause I had femShep and therefore no possibility of a Tali romance?

True. I bet Liara read it more than once though to recite it so accurately, nor does she hide that she is continuing to spy on you.

Liara basically admits she is spying on Shepard and Tali's romance ...in a jealous fashion if previously romanced.

Why do you have my armor in a glass case on display like its some kind of trophy/prize? You say you can finally help find a way to stop the reapers. Why didn't you do that after the SR1 was destroyed? So Hackett gave my dogtags to you to give to me. Any reason why?

I had some of those questions myself; one of the biggest being why she sat on Illium obsessed with the shadow broker instead of helping stop the reapers? Granted, everyone seemed to forget about them after ME1. Yet even when offered an opportunity to help, she chooses to sit in her office while you save the galaxy and Shepard just rolls with it. Also, her plan of revenge, besides being very unhealthy, sounds like suicide. Her own bloody secretary was a shadow broker agent and she was clueless. None of this Shepard can address. And when the suicide mission is over and you've lost people, there is no opportunity to chastise her for not helping; especially when her not helping turned out to all be for nothing.

 

The glass case thing... I could rationalize it as a form of respect/admiration, although we all know there's more to it than that with her.

 

And the Cerberus corpse... Obviously, she had too much guilt to tell anyone. Too bad Shepard has no option to scorn her for it.

"Pet peeve" is excellent wording for it. I have only a few in the trilogy. The Illium thing is one of them. Another is how you can't say anything when Chakwas poorly dismisses Adams not joining in ME2. It's not that it bothered me that he didn't join, especially since he apologized, but it's how Chakwas rationalizes it by saying Ashley/Kaidan and Liara didn't join yet weren't "cowards" and you cannot correct her. It's not about cowardice, but trust and loyalty. Usually, Chakwas dies though so this example is avoided for me. I like the angle where he wonders if he could have saved her.

 

What other questions do you want to ask others?

lol It's funny recruiting her last despite everyone constantly suggesting to go get Liara, like they have some intuition that she'd be of any use.

 

The guilt thing? Besides being unable to come up with any other explanation, she admits she feared Shepard's reaction to giving their body to Cerberus. It seems obvious to me she struggled greatly with the choice and would fear how the others would react as well, so she kept silent.

Exactly. I've stuck with her romantically through the trilogy largely on the goodwill earned from LotSB's great content, but ME3 definitely did her no favors. You almost forget you're in a relationship with her through most of it and it can feel very natural to me to move on to someone else because she just wasn't attentive to Shepard anymore.

 

One of my favorite Shepard's moved onto Tali after her cold treatment of him on Illium. He was put off by her great change and how she was so obsessed with vengeance that she refused to help with the collectors; only wanting him to hack some terminals. It's funny how surprised Liara acts in ME3 when you tell her you just want to be friends, like so much hasn't changed and she's not a completely different person now. No real loss. Outside of a quick peck on the cheek, there isn't much content.

 That is one of the reason why I compared her romance with Twilight even when I actively don't want to....

 

I tried to make my Shepard to treat her coldly.. although I'm quite annoyed how repetitive it was to tell her to go back to work all the time especially when its obvious the conversation was written to pander on her personal crisis. As in you're suppose to take care of her feelings and make her smile and open up or decide whether you want to pursue her from the obvious signs she into you... while ignoring the parts where she stalk you and invade your squadmates' privacy as well.

 

Obviously, it was intended to make Liara lovable and endearing but Liara really don't understand personal space. You can't teach her to respect that and there's only one instance where you can say no to her which was in ME1 and she forgot about that completely. That should be a carry over in the trilogy.

Like perhaps the Sole Survivor background was the subject of a "127 Hours" type movie about Akuze, Ruthless is considered a war criminal by the Batarians (and some Humans) for their actions on Torfan, the War Hero claimed that a "faulty com" was why they ignored the order to retreat on Elysium, Earthborn actually joined the Alliance to escape a prison sentence, Colonist is responsible for most of the rebuilding of Mindoir through anonymous donations, while Spacer's father worked in Alliance Intelligence and was KIA in a classified mission to infiltrate Cerberus.

 

Stuff kind of like that to add some more flavour to our backgrounds, while still unobtrusive enough to allow us freedom to RP and headcanon?

They haven't done anything cool about the origins since ME1.. 

 

I don't know why.. other than maybe just thinking it's better if we left it to ourselves. I'd probably hate if they got too detailed about Elysium personally. I have a whole Diehard story in my head. 

 

I would have loved to have actually played the home part of the origins though (Earthborn and Colonist especially).

Liara actually comments on the fail-relationship with Jack? Does a romanced Liara break up with you if that happened? Never took that route myself.

Liara as the Shadow Broker is such a non-event in the game proper, it makes me wonder why they even bothered. Like, it could have been really interesting, making the questions of where the line is - much of her activities as the Broker fall under the category of privacy violation, which, considering the concerns of indoctrination, have a justification. Liara should have become this very morally ambiguous character because of her activities of information gathering, since just by accessing the information, having that information at her fingertips, or even how in LotSB, one of her first thoughts is that if you give her ten minutes, she could start a war - LIARA T'SONI is saying she could start a war. There was some real interesting stuff to do with her... And nothing comes of it.
