I think a good idea for a mini game in the future would be a janitor based mini game were you have to hold both triggers and both bumpers in while rotating both thumb sticks in opposite directions for 10 minutes to clean off the windows on the Normandy.  That way cleaning the windows on the Normandy would be significantly less fun than washing windows in real life.

or how about a mini game where you try to hold all the buttons an the xbox controller in at once to successfully clean the restroom.

Wait wait I have a better one. Edi could nag you until you clean your quarters and then it could have a renegade interrupt were you shove all the crap under your bed.

I don't know what you are talking about planet scanning is awesome there is nothing like clenching your left trigger for ten or fifteen minutes at a time.

haha. the planet scanning is the crapiest, lamest, most idiodic part of a game ive ever played.

the game should be advertised as "an intense epic shooter, with a pointless, but necessary, pathetic, crappy, stupid, why-is-this-is-the-game-at-all planet scanning."

i agree with you man. its absolutely the dumbest thing ive ever had to do in a videogame.

I kinda enjoyed the planet scanning. In reality, you kinda need it if you want all your teammates to survive through the game. The good thing about it is that you don't have to spend upgrades on just credits, instead the minerals you find are good enough I guess. if you don't have enough Platinum, Palladium, Iridium, or EZero you can't get a ship upgrade that'll keep a team member alive or a new weapon.

What would've been nicer is if you could sell your minerals. I have so much freakin' Iridium I'd be a rich mother If I could sell it all.

Umm...I actually kinda like the scanning. I can fully sweep a planet in waaaaaaay less time than it took me grinding ground in the MAKO. And the whole process is just more engaging to me.

But, yeah, I would've liked to have been able to sell it.

maybe I am just a little off but the planet scanning for me is addicting, I have like 200,000+ of every resource except element zero. I guess i just like having large amounts of stuff lol

I also enjoy the planet scanning, and it's much more fun (and productive) than taking the buggy down and driving on 90 degree terrain.

Yeah, once I stopped trying to get every deposit and learned to quickly sweep the planet for resources no smaller than 4-5 bars in amplitude it became much less tedious.

That said, it IS still tedious. It would have been more tolerable had the scanner been a toggle instead of something you had to keep depressed.

Yes, most diamonds have flaws and ME2 is no exception. Planet scanning is mind numbing. It's definitely THE weak part of an otherwise wonderful game. I certainly see the point of the exercise, but the implementation is horrible. It could be improve immensely. My suggestions:

1. Allow for the planet to rotate faster. Variable speed, even better.

2. Have a zooming mechanism for the scanning reticle. Again, variable size would be great.

Let is enlarge to cover 20-25% of planet face when expanded. Start there and then zoom

in on hits.

3. Have a different colored equator and some way to reference longitudinal lines. Has anyone

else noticed that there are fifty longitudinal lines, but you can only see ~20 when looking at

the planet? What!!! What kind of crazy spatial geometry allows for you to look at a sphere

and not see a hemisphere (i.e. 50% of the planet). I am going to start a new thread titled

"Planetary scanning comments/tips" to discuss this in more detail.

If ever there was a situation screaming for DLC, this is it. Bioware, please fix this part of the game. It's pretty horrible.

I did not mind Planet Scanning at all, in fact I enjoyed it. Of course I also like traveling around on planets in ME1 and driving the Mako, so maybe its just me <_<

I kind of miss the freedom to just roam around on planets, now you either scan or go straight to your destination; I was kinda miffed about that among several other things.

but if they took out planet scanning the game would only be 10 hours...instead of 40+

i totally agree, planet scanning is is about as fun as a lumbar puncture and no where near as interesting.

besides that...it makes no sense at all. i mean really....this is the most advanced ship, it has planet scanning capabilities...but i have to tell it where to look, and what to get??? why isnt that procedure automated?

oh wait...i already answered that...we need that extra 30 hours of game play.

The planet scanning is more fun than driving around the Mako but that's not saying much. If it could be done more quickly it wouldn't be so bad
