Just finished my first playthrough of Origins with a noble female Warden who had Alistair do the dark ritual, survived the Archdemon and ended up as Queen with Alistair.
Starting Awakening: better to roll a new character or import? Just want my story to stay consistent . . .
I'd say import if only because it adds a more personal touch than a new Warden. It keeps all the events of DAO and DAA under your original Warden's belt and might make the feel of DA2 different, if you intend to keep on goin'. 
I've played Awakening with a Queen Warden and I liked it. Kind of felt like "one last adventure" before she withdrew to the throne. And... there's a tiny, little interaction with Alistair in it. 
To keep your choices you have to stay with your Warden. A new character will have a generic world state.
It's annoying that you can't keep your choices and have a new guy tbh. If you're on PC you can use the console to make it work, but seeing how your girl isn't dead you may as well just roleplay a reason for her to be there.
Continuing through the "main-line" DLC extensions (DAA, GoA, WH) give a real sense of accomplishment when your Warden makes the final decision. (Although that one has a more... complicated set of choices if you romanced Morri.)
In every one of my many, many playthroughs I've kept the same PC the entire way. Well, except the one who made the Ultimate Sacrifice at Fort Drakkon to earn the achievement badge. But then, I couldn't even finish DAA with the pretend replacement the Grey Wardens tried to foist on me!
