Sera is the best companion/romance

At first she seemed annoying when you meet her and made no sense so I didn't use her my first play through. This time around though I wanted to try someone different, and all I have to say is that I can't get enough of her. She's funny and her humor actually had me laughing just about everytime she talked. Her and Iron Bull are the best kind of mayhem. Maaayyyyhem!
Seriously though, she needs to be in Dragon Age 4. My new favorite character of all Bioware games.

Her, Iron bull and Dorian make up my favorite party, it's cute as she and Dorian bicker, they're like siblings.

She's not quite my favourite DAI companion (Dorian, probably) or romance (Blackwall!) but she is delightful
. Especially when romanced with a qunari

I replayed the game several times but could never bring myself to romance Sera because of Cassandra, SIGH
But I do really enjoy Sera as a companion, her jokes and personality cracks me up and reduces the tensions imo.

Sera was the first comp i romanced, after her i tried to do a Cass romance. Cass gives me the impression of a disinterested LI. You're flirting with this person, giving them a nice gift, flirting with this person some more and they are still "ohh...thats nice...i guess...now excuse me while i beat on this target dummy for a few hours". Its like Cass is playing a game of hard to get and only you are the one that knows it. On my Sera romance character i started Wicked Hearts and Minds sooner but on my Cass romance character i started it a whole zone later. Level 12 vs 15 and i think it was Crestwood that i had not cleared yet on my level 12 but on my 15 i cleared it. By the end of that quest chain, Sera she-who-never-dances was dancing with me on the balcony and had put that entry into her journal and Cassandra was all srs bzns seeker person so I danced with Josephine. I actually thinkg that i think that i'll pick up a romance with Josephine instead on that character. It only seemed natural since Josephine was there for me while Cassandra was busy working on her angry face look and polishing her sword.

Lukas' characters seem to be the type that sneak up on me, at first my reaction to them tends to be "What even are you?" but then after a while I find they've grown on me. Aveline in The Captain's Condolences and Sera's "stupid friendship cookies"/rooftop chill sessions are both really affecting.

I tried romancing her. All she did was constantly insult my character's heritage, make her feel self-conscious about her body ("feels like dipping your fingers in a bag of chicken necks." THANKS, B*TCH! We haven't even kissed yet and already I feel unsexy), got mad any time my character said or did anything "elfy" (even if it wasn't directed at Sera), then tried to force her to dump her religion and heritage for her.
I also don't think she's funny, I find her "humor" to be vapid and annoying, and I'm pretty sure she doesn't bathe. (On top of her "proud commoner" status and mismatched clothes, she has a layer of moistness on her skin that reflects more light than most of the other companions.)

And yet Solas is the one called unwashed.
It's unfair to say that Sera doesn't bathe based on her overly shiny skin that most every companion, advisor, and Inquisitor suffers from. Shiny faces is one of the many features of this game. Some had it worse than others, but it's still a problem for more than just Sera. I don't mind saying that her personal hygiene might be questionable, we don't know the bathing habits of our comrades, I just wouldn't say that based on an issue that is common in game.

That "layer of moistness" is a technical thing. Whoever did that to her skin got a little carried away with the wet/glossy/phong setting of her skin giving it a wax-like look. I hate to say it but the modeling and texture work in DAI is a little bad. You know that scarf that Sera wears? they put it there to hide her neck seam. If you look at most characters in DAI they have issues with where the neck connects to the shoulders. Also look at the levels of glossiness on Seras shoulders below the scarf and above it on her face. You will see that the levels of glossiness are different. Thats not because she scrubs her shoulders and upper-upper chest really really good with soap but not her face. Its because whoever assigned the skin/texture properties to her face and body mismatched the phong/glossiness settings.
As for the other things in your first paragraph? her character flaws are my favorite part.

Well, as the fighters in the party don't seem to get out of their armour until (and if) they get to the Empress's Ball (is that a dance or a raffle?
) they must be pretty fragrant by the end of the game, not to mention that leather under-armour must be pretty well rigid. Alternatively they may use turkish baths, strigils and oil to get into shape for the next bit of action?

Please no. I want her nowhere near Dragon Age 4. I want her nowhere near even Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Josephine has the only bath in Skyhold. It's in her office, where presumably the whole of the Inquisition bathes.
That must really impress visiting ambassadors! Particularly if friends are sharing. (The thought of The Iron Bull - no, I just don't want to go there.

I hope Sera replaces Verric in future DA games..After Sera joins I never use him.
My "dream team" in DA:4 would be my pc, Sera,Lace and a new character.

I'm willing to admit she's streetwise and sometimes amusing but her constant refusal to look at the larger picture - because she doesn't like 'complicated' - is really tiresome. In fact she behaves like someone deeply traumatized. I'm almost tempted to believe in the theory that she's an amnesiac Andruil. As for romance, I don't do grey cows or dwarves.

You can romance Sera with any race, though? (It's just extra awesome with a qunari. Although I hear Sera/Dwarf is also very cute.)

I think that she is, since this isnt the spoilers section i wont go over why i think that. But to drop some hints as to what parts of her dialogue makes me think that.
1) where she grew up
2) the person that raised her, Baker and cookies. The first time she invites you out onto the roof to eat cookies is when you find out this info.
3) her 2 fears...not her *biggest* fear but her other fears like how people are afraid of spiders but Sera is afraid of ____ and _____.
4) one of her random banters with Cassandra where she talks about Cassandra being well fit and she asks Cassandra what she thinks a stable boy sees
Put all of those things together and in some cases put yourself in that situation. If you had to live that kind of life is there a chance that some kind of traumatizing event could happen that would stay with you for life? Her fears...why do people fear spiders, snakes or water? maybe when they were a little kid a big spider landed on their face? or they fell into a train car full of snakes? or they almost drowned in the bathtub as a kid? One and four kinda go together because it lets you know a little bit about how she may have viewed things growing up. Number 4 is meant to be funny, but there could be some truth there.

I was on the fence with Sera for the longest time, but now I can say with certainty that I like her.
Her banter with Dorian still makes me grin every time I hear it, and hearing it for the first time had me laughing out loud. She's flawed but fun, and her offer of a place in the Red Jennys to the Inquisitor is very endearing.
I will never do her romance, and the fact that she ends up with Dagna also has me grinning from ear to ear. The mischief they must get into... I'm sure people can hear them coming a mile away due to all of the giggling.
