I'm not 100% sure how the calender works in the game..so its (at the time of the Mage-Templar War) its 9:41 Dragon Age. Does that mean its been forty-one years since the beginning of the new age? How does a new age, well become a new age? So, if the age does end will it be like a "reboot" to the franchise?

Gaider said at one point that they had not decided whether they would continue calling it 'Dragon Age' if the series continued past the actual 'Dragon Age'. We're a few decades into the Dragon Age right now; it began during the Ferelden rebellion against the Orlesian occupation and is now 9:44 (by the time of Trespasser).

How does a new age, well become a new age?

In the 99th year of an age, the chantry's scholars look for signs in the world that foreshadow important things.

Dragon Age - dragons have been seen again in centuries

Blessed Age - after a long period of childlessness, the orlesian emperor's wife gives birth to twin sons

Storm Age - there was a lot of violence and war

Steel Age - the antivan queen was assassinated

Exalted Age - exalted march against Tevinter

Black Age - chantry schism

Towers Age - the grand cathedral in Val Royeaux is finished

Glory Age - defeat of the second blight

Divine Age - the first divine is elected

I would just start calling the games the new "age" name. I doubt it would hurt sales. I imagine they could actually pad out the remaining 56 years pretty far, though, if they don't do stupid things with the timeline, like DA2 did. Those big time gaps weren't even believable in the story, imo. Everyone acted like you hadn't even spoken since years ago, when the game jetted you forward. It wasn't organic at all. If they make the games in a 1-3 year span, they'll be able to handle interaction more easily and there's less chance they'll have to worry about this.

I think it depends on what the last game in the actual Dragon Age is called. They could have a single game that takes place from 9:98-99 and whatever events we play out in the game become the new age and that is announced at the end of the game itself. Thus all current players of the franchise will have experienced the transition and the next game can truly be called Rainbow Age, or whatever. (Because all will be happy and peaceful, with rainbows and unicorns and fluffy kittens and puppies, right? ... Right?)

Or perhaps they'll just end the franchise. Who knows?

OH, you know what would be awesome, is if they gave players a (limited!) choice and used telemetry data to determine the name, say if 60% of players picked Rainbow Age over Flower Age, or something. Of course, that kinda borks the whole import system, but it's a fun idea if you don't think too much about the logistics of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the overarching plot is working towards a point where the current system of ages ends.   That is purely a Chantry construct anyway.   According to the Imperial Calendar it is 2034 Tevinter Imperium and according to the Elven Calendar 8439FA.     I imagine that however the Solas plot resolves itself, the world will be changed sufficiently it will no longer be the Dragon Age, even if we haven't yet got to the end of the century.

However, if that isn't the case, then it would be an opportunity for them to reboot the franchise, assuming they wish to continue it, by jumping forward in time and making the new plot arc take place in the ****** Age.     May as Nightcrawl suggests they could have some involvement of players, but not in game; instead put it to some sort of poll between games of potential names.

Then, they will disregard player's decisions and call it whatever they want to (i.e. The Egg Age), because that's what the devs always do in Dragon Age: ignore the options they have created that gave the players the opportunity to take decisions.

If Solas succeeds, they will have to call it the Liar's Age.
