Are the Challenges worth striving for anymore?

The unintended benefit for me has been trying out all of the different characters and kits. I probably would have never tried 75% of what I play. And if it hadn't been for the CP part of the game, I would have missed out on a bunch of fun setups. But, that's just the way my brain and competitive nature is wired.

As far as challenges go, I will gladly admit, I am a CP junkie. It gives me something to strive for, and now, that I maxed my manifest, it has become even more so. I want to hit 100k. That's my motivation and I'm closing in. Up to 88,900 right now.

I want to win sure, but I have never been a all or nothing competitive kind of person. The only thing I was ever determined to accomplish in my life was to be a good father to my son, Today we are the best of friends. In my younger day when I played baseball and fast pitched softball I was competitive, but it wasn't all or nothing. I just enjoyed the game and the team spirit. Admittedly, I haven't yet tried all of the characters and their kits. I like the Asari, but they seem too squishy for me--unlike my beloved Turian Sentinel. I tried the Batarian Soldier but that didn't go well either. I really want to try the Asari Huntress, but I can't get the darn thing unlocked. Everything is do freaking random. Like I said earlier all that ever seems to come are human this or human that 100 percent of the time. It's frustrating.
I was playing with my Asari Adept (at level 20) a short time ago on silver and was having problems with (1.) staying alive and (2) knocking crap down. It seems to take a couple hundred rounds and a dozen or so warp/throw combos just to take down a Pyro, for crying out loud. Now I have gone back to my Turian friend. I like him best.

The 2 main reasons I play is because of the good people I've met and the co-op aspect. I've got a few good buddies that I play with that are just cool to talk with and have some fun. Others have come and gone, but they are just good people (as far as you can tell from online mic interaction). As far as the team aspect of it, I was part of a team for 28 years of my life as either a player or coach (ages 5-33). I no longer do that, so now this is my way to be part of a team. Might sound cheesy, but that's the way it is and this is my competitive outlet.
I can certainly appreciate that, Al. What gets me is how well we all interact with one another across the globe when it comes to playing video games. Earlier this morning it was fun playing several rounds...as a team... with two newly acquired friends from across the pond. And, it what just by happenstance that we were in the same lobby together at the time. Got to love it!!

Apparently my challenge point rank is lower than 220 now.

Sure they are. I like seeing the challenge complete stuff pop up in game. Came across one guy with 800k CP earlier......don't think I'll reach that before Live is dumped on 360.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is "challenge point rank" anyway?

Just something goofy that appears in N7 HQ. Basically ranks people by how many challenge points they have.

The only challenges I truly ever cared about were the ones to get the Halloween pumpkin banner and the Valentines day stripper banner.

I miss the fact that I could slap on any of those theme week banners with my original account. The Zaeed tribute banner was also a fav to wear.

Biotic God was the one I used the most. Lone Wolf too even if it wasn't the hip thing to wear.

Hipster etiquette requires one not to wear a banner, are you prepared to make that sacrifice?

I did it that one time to be ironic but actually, I was just a scrub on a new account. It wasn't the same Dobs, it wasn't the same.

Okay, I am not adept at playing with my Asari Adept whom I just got to level 20. but, just a short while ago. I was playing on silver trying to get my Asari Adept to level 20 when suddenly in the game in which I was playing, the leader left the game. So I went back and did a search for a game and right away I was connect to one. And, would you know it, It was taking place at my least favorite place, The Reactor. But, I stayed in the game and I was running doing my thing when suddenly there were way to many Atlases attacking. I'm thinking: "This isn't Silver?!?"
Sure enough I was playing on Gold for the first time ever. Now, if I was ever to attempt playing on gold it would have been with my Turian Sentinel, not my Asari Adept. Damn if I didn't make it through to the extraction. I think I will look before I click from now on and stay on silver until I feel ready for gold.

I'm skeptical of lone wolf banner people. A number of them play every match as if they're soloing. I've never worn mine because I don't want to send the message that I don't need my teammates.

But it shows you can survive the wave if everyone else dies plus it also shows that you're pro enough to survive enough on your own if necessary (kind of the same as the first but still lol). I'm definitely going for it and gonna wear it with pride once gotten ![]()

More power to you. To clarify, my initial skepticism is mitigated if said player winds up being a good teammate. I'm also neurotic and worry that my squad will assume that I believe they are all going to wipe if I wear it.

Yeah I get that Psysio I guess ![]()
And there's a banner called the "Valentines day stripper banner"? LOL I wouldn't wear that even if it was good. It's hard earning respect as a female player amongst guys / pugs as it is and if I had the word "stripper" associated to my name... it would make it completely impossible.

If you extracted with a non-favorite kit on a non-favorite map with PUGs, you're probably ready even if you don't feel ready. Try playing TSent with friends on gold.

It's actually called the Hearbreaker banner, but it has a picture of a Cupid volus and an Asari dancer on it.

Ohhhh it's the heartbreaker one? I know that one lol. I got confused because she called it "stripper"... that sounded weird. The heartbreaker one is cool, I haven't gotten it yet though but I want it some day. *fingers crossed*
