If you extracted with a non-favorite kit on a non-favorite map with PUGs, you're probably ready even if you don't feel ready. Try playing TSent with friends on gold.

It wasn't that my Asari Adept is a non-favorite kit, it is just that I am more adapt with my TSent. My Asari is just a little too squishy. Still, you are correct that it just proves that I am ready for gold--fighting against Cerberus at least. (The Collectors are another question. I hate the Collectors.)  Plus, I have only been playing ME3 multiplayer steadily now for the past three weeks or so. I had started to play it in the past, but got caught up with playing with DA:I and Fallout 4; and TERA too.

Moving from Silver to Gold, you may find your preferences change a little. On Silver, Collectors are undoubtedly the hardest enemy faction, while on Gold the difficulty jump by Cerberus is significant, making them the hardest, with wave 7 in particular often causing major headaches. If you ever make it to Plat, that's when the Geth truly come into their own.

The TSent is one of the most versatile characters in the game, and he can cope with anything, but don't underestimate the Asari Adept. Clyde might disagree with me, but her Stasis bubble combined with a headshot-capable weapon with headshot bonuses can absolutely trivialize Cerberus, and make you one of the most popular teammates to have, keeping Phantoms at bay.

As for the wider question of challenges, I'm with Al - they gave me focus and variety and made me a better player overall. I'm just messing about now with two low-level accounts, having made it to 130k on my main, and I notice myself dithering over what to play next a lot of the time - that wouldn't have happened when I was working through challenges. I'd like the concept expanded for Andromeda, so that challenge completion is in some way tied to weapon and gear unlocks. I suppose I can dream!

Biotic God was the one I used the most. Lone Wolf too even if it wasn't the hip thing to wear.

You should not wear anything.... :P

I am terrible at headshots. I have trouble with scopes. I only average about 5 headshots a game.  Perhaps ten on a good day. Plus, those grasshopping Phantoms are hard to track when you are being overrun in the extraction area. I can take down an Atlas better than I can a Phantom or a Dragoon. What I truly need is a weapon that doesn't take two or three clips and several combos to take down so much as a stupid Pyro. But, I also would like a weapon that can strike a target at a distance as well as up close and personal. And, I haven't found one yet. And, when it comes to melee I am again terrible at it. So, before I can jump to gold or platinum I need to learn to adapt my play style with the equipment that is available. I can't use the Adas because it goes silent all of the time and that totally distracts me.

Just a side note: "last night I was playing a game at Firebase Giant when all of a sudden I ran out of ammo, ran to an ammo box but could not pick up any ammo. I couldn't even use the "8" key to reload ammo. Plus, my warps and throws were going right through the Collectors with no effect." All I could do was leave the game and restart ME3.

I hear you - I'm pretty much the same, which is why I was mentioning the stasis bubble. It won't help with Pyros or Dragoons because they have armour, although the latter shouldn't cause too many problems when playing as an Asari because she can dodge around them indefinitely. But the bubble is the ultimate learning tool for headshots, provided you use a gun which will kill quickly. If you shoot a Phantom in stasis but don't kill her, you'll simply break the stasis hold. The best gun is arguably the Suppressor (which I loathe on almost every other character), which already has a massive headshot multiplier and can rapidly double tap Gold level Phantoms, off-host at least. I don't know how the charge-up with the Arc Pistol works on PC but it's another excellent choice, as is the Paladin. You will see the term 'stasis-sniper' used here, but it doesn't necessarily mean using a sniper rifle if you have trouble with scopes.

And your Firebase Giant experience sounds more like a normal day on Condor!

Thanks Grunt. I will look into it. I have used the arc pistol before. As to the suppressor I have yet to use it. I am not sure I even have it. What I need is the M240B. :)

It doesn't have to be a head shot build. Stasis builds work just fine with haphazardly hip-fired shotguns. Preferably with the bigger boomsticks, though.

Time to learn how to GI maybe? You do have Smart Choke maxed at level 5 for shotguns and although your high velocity barrel is only at level 1, it would work. Piranha is only at level two but it will suffice for silver. Alternatively, we can try GI with SMG (locust or tempest)  as you have magazine and heat sink for SMG maxed out. Need some ammo piercing rounds though, levels 1 or 2 should be more than enough for silver and probably even gold. Or you can use drill rounds and those you have quite a few.

I believe what you're looking for is the Crusader. Very good at range and close up once you get used to the firing through time thing. (IIRC, it hits what you were aiming at 0.2 seconds before you pulled the trigger. It's actually not that bad for old timers like us who don't have any fast twitch muscle fibers left.)

Ohhhh it's the heartbreaker one? I know that one lol. I got confused because she called it "stripper"... that sounded weird. The heartbreaker one is cool, I haven't gotten it yet though but I want it some day. *fingers crossed*

Unfortunately, it's one of the banners that are no longer available as it was tied to a challenge from 2013. Other banners that are no longer available include the headless salarian, Zaeed, Stood Strong, N7 day and Nyreen banners.

Ahh that's a shame. I see Firerider wear it and he always brags about being a heartbreaker lol. Pretty cool for those who has it now though, since no one else can get it now :)

Wow! I just tried out the GI and I am sorry to say that I wasn't impressed at all. Oh, my God I hate the Hunter Mode....hate it. It is too darn distracting. The darn Locust is liken to shooting a BB gun and that N7 Piranha is for the birds. I was killed 6 times in between the first and the third wave, I feel sorry for those folks who had joined me in the game, because I left. (I wish there was a way to change classes in the middle of a game.) I think I will stick to my Turian Sentinel. That was totally ridiculous.  But, I did try and I was totally unsuccessful at it. Although, it would be nice if there was a practice arena where you can practice with your new kit, instead of playing in a game where you are totally letting down your teammates. That's wrong on several levels---to me anyway.

Play a bronze solo - that should do for training.

I don't have the Crusader unlocked and I am sure as heck not going to invest real money to try and unlock it. I was just trying the Geth weapons and using their shotgun is like trying to take a constipated crap. It takes two men and a boy just to pull the trigger. The Geth SMG  is useless to me.

Well Jallard, it looks like your learning curve is coming along nicely. A nerf ball gun would be more effective than a low level Geth smg. For the Geth shotgun, use it when you host, off host it has shots disappear.

The Geth Infiltrator is a very advanced character to use. I got it as one of my first character unlocks, tried it and died a bunch (same with the Drell Adept). I didn't revisit it until probably a solid 500 hours of gameplay passed. After I went back i realized how ridiculous and overpowered it was. The more you play the more powerful the Hunter Mode kits become. Same with the Drell Adept Reave / Cluster grenade combo.

Well, I offered you to practice. Learning to use this kit, GI, is essential. I think, you may need it to progress. And it requires help. And will take time.
