Play a bronze solo - that should do for training.

It would be better in a team game without infiltrators first. It is a little bit too intense for Jallard at this time IMO.

But it shows you can survive the wave if everyone else dies plus it also shows that you're pro enough to survive enough on your own if necessary (kind of the same as the first but still lol). I'm definitely going for it and gonna wear it with pride once gotten <_<

Not necessarily, not like it's hard to get it by playing Kroguard/Reegar vs Geth or GT vs Reapers on Gold. I used to wear the "Worst of the worst" banner for a long time, but running in to so many insanely bad pugs wearing it I realized it don't mean anything.

Well, I offered you to practice. Learning to use this kit, GI, is essential. I think, you may need it to progress. And it requires help. And will take time.

Yea, I know! But that Hunter Mode is extremely distracting for me and I don't like using the N7 Piranha shotgun, let alone the Geth shotgun. By the time you prime either shotgun the opponent has long moved away from your targeting area....area of sight;  and, I am just not quick enough to adjust. It is amazing to me that I can't hit a target with a shotgun. I am just not. That said, I soloed Bronze this morning with my N7 Devastator on level 17.

Shoot those shotte gunnes at walls from different ranges and you'll get a grasp how they work. Most work best up close, smart choke is one of the best mods for shotties. Piranha has a wide spread, but if you play infiltrator you can easily get close and personal. Just lurk behind a wall and they'll come at you. Just don't get flanked.

The problem is, in game to do that....to test a shotgun's range, when there is little or no time to do it. Incidentally, I believe I have the smart choke already attached. Just to pull a Pirha's trigger takes a lot of time and a whole lot of effort. By then I am already dead. Shotguns, for me at least are an absolute no-no. The other thing to is the Piranha only holds five shots and it sometimes takes three or four shot just to knock down a Pryo. Earlier today I was trying to take down a Pryo and dodging a damn bomber. Three shotgun rounds later I was dead from those damn grenades that the bomber drops.  The Pryo was still standing and I was dead. People must of heard me swear ten miles away, in Beaverton or Gresham. No, shotguns and bombers and phantoms are not conducive to my over all heath:  Meaning that I could work myself into a heart attack or a stroke. And, at 69 that's always a possibility.

Hmmmm you may have a point Pat. Although, I do think they are hard to get those banners. I don't have a single one right now :( It's getting a bit better though, I'm slowly getting there and one day soon I'll be able to say it's easy as well  <_<

I found that the Hunter Mode on the GI way too distracting and not to my liking. I realize, of course, that the N7 Devastator has a Targeting VI, but is has less lines in your face. As for weapons I am not keen on shotguns. Pistols I can handle provided they held at least a 30-round clip. I want a hard hitting carbine (perhaps an M14)  or an assault rife that can at least take down a Pryo with a minimum of three shots, whether I hit it in the head or not. Unfortunately, there is no such weapons in the ME 3 arsenal. Give me a 4570 with two 30-round banana clips tapped together. Then I would be a happy camper. Anyway, at some point I will give the GI another chance. The other thing too is that I am rather unconventional--meaning that I don't necessarily conform to any set doctrine or style of play.

I suspect this might be your problem. You said you like Tsent, who is pretty tanky compared to GI. Of course, him not having a dodge also means the fat turian has to move around a lot(as an aside, does anybody else wonder how the hell does that turian manage to stay so fat with all the running around he does?), but it also means he doesn't go down from couple of shots if he gets surprised. Camping is, with Tsent, easier.

But GI? He has to move constantly. Even while shooting. Straffing to the left, right, dodging... he needs to stay mobile, because his shields are extremely low when he has Hunter Mode on and he has no DR whatsoever. He gets surprised, he gets downed. That's why HM also gives you a massive speed boost... slap on some adrenaline module and you'll be able to dodge bullets pretty much just by side stepping.

GI has a curve to him and it's a pretty steep curve. But when you master him, things tend to die extremely fast.

As with everything else in this game, hosting gives you almost unfair advantage and makes learning that much easier.

We've had "unconventional" players before mastering gold solos. Your age tag is nothing against that. I use a gimped GI, equipped with falcon. It's a build from here, someone called it the detonator build. It was around when people used to camp White and cowered behind a counter. I found that boring and strolled off to the doorway ahead and wrecked everything that came down the stairs with staggers, explosions and fire.

Eventually the guys behind the counter became so bored that they finally moved their lazy limbs and we all continued to play the match "properly".

Point: You don't need a sniper with infiltrators. Use a gun that staggers and buys you time to kill. There's 8 enemies. If they're all staggered, dieing, going for cover, they aren't shooting at you. Venom is even better.

Know the map, use soft cover, watch your back and kill them steadily.

Use soft cover so they don't hit you. Watch your back and have a plan to move about the map you know from the inside out, so you can make use of the soft cover to not get hit but return fire at them.

When you know the map, you will know about the possible spawns. Keep count of the enemy and remember where they could be coming from so you can adapt your soft cover position to new enemy approaches.

When you shoot at the enemy from soft cover always mind that there might be new enemies spawning somewhere. Use your map knowledge to anticipate their movement. Listen to audio cues. Phantoms like to flank and take a "way around".

Wanna play the GI? Get used to the hunter mode or play something different if you can't adapt. You don't need wall hack when you have ears. Just know the wave budget and you know what will be coming at you. Know when Dragoons are going to rush you. Divide and conquer, kill them first, drain their budget and you're rid of them for the rest of the wave.

Why not play a Shadow? Duration cloak. Play some hide and seek. Any other duration infiltrator will do, too. Just play with the enemy and the map - you don't have to "win" the match to have fun and learn about the game and adapt to the pacing. Use cloak to get away, in position. See how they react, don't camp, take a stroll.

What you stated is pretty much what my mentor and I discussed or chatted about last night. He even suggested a build for me. One of the things he first taught me was not to be concerned with where I end up on the points list at the end of match. I did not know then that the points were actually shared.

My biggest issue is the keyboard, instinctively knowing where the "right" keys are. I get frazzled much of the time especially when I start to get overrun of I catch someone shooting at me from behind of the flanks. I also have an issue with getting out of cover. It is a though I get stuck and can't move and then, of course, I am a dead duck. My other issue is when I am running around and catch a corner of "anything at all" I go into instant cover. That infuriates me like you wouldn't believe! Even so, to stand at a corner with my back up against a wall, to try and turn and shoot then “try to” escape I am usually a dead duck again.

The other thing that i struggle with, which also infuriates me is how the game will suddenly change your weapon on you, in the most Inopportune time. Again, as I struggle to change back to my weapon of choice, I am again a dead duck. So, if I am just carrying one weapon on a certain kit and suddenly the game switches to the missile launcher, in the first or second wave, for example, and i unconsciously fire it.

There is just one solution:

You need to pick Asari Justicar and listen to this while playing to rattle those old bones of yours and get the juices flowing:

You be invincible.

Wouldn't that rather be fit for a Kroguard? For Chootanka?

Thinking... you could give the Krogan Hammerlord a shot. No hard cover by definition. No auto cover to get stuck in. Volus, too, but way harder. And the Krogan reward you with instant happy chuckling if you do it right.

Striving? not sure. Challenges? There are plenty.

Just started playing Silver oh, 1 out of 4-5 games, now. Often I die. A few times I survived without being killed.

So, yes, I have a long way to go. And, yes, my reaction skills are wanting.

Pat's right; Solo Mastery doesn't mean a damn thing. Lone Wolf and BotB banners just mean you took the time to grind out the challenges, not that you can actually play.

You're always so sweet and kind to say that, thank you. It makes me feel a lot better when a good pro player like yourself reassures me by saying that it's kind of "normal" to be less good at this stage, it makes me feel less embarrassed :) I'm just a very impatient person lol.

And now I want that banner even more!! Cause everyone seems to dislike it, just like the Reegar, that makes me want it moar!! :P

Other than lone wolf all the banners mostly just take patience, if you can put in the hours grinding away at challenge points you'll eventually have all of them
