Anybody know if there was a post or resource that had info on enemy attacks for ME1?  Probably mostly interested in shield bypass stuff / mechanics, but even just damage might be interesting.

I realize there is scaling.

The main reason I had started this was because I am finishing off an Engineer who has been in limbo for 2 years (I tended to get demotivated right before Virmire).

For whatever reason I had the idea that enemy snipers had percent shield bypass.  This was because way back when I thought I had a biotic (forgot which one) with barrier up who was sniped and taken to nearly no health, but still had barrier.  Perhaps this didn't actually happen, or I was too slow to look and so barrier had regened a bit.

The above engineer managed to survive a sniper shot with Predator L armor, although it had wiped out all shields and a large part of health.  When I saw that I did a search then made this thread, because I knew I had to have been thinking incorrectly about enemy snipers.

I loaded up an old Adept to try and look at barrier against rockets and snipers, and I guess it looks like rockets / explosions are shield bypass, but snipers (geth at least) didn't have any.  Funny that I should have to take a look at something like this all these years later.

As an aside, that old Adept had a horrible build.  I was level 50 and only had two points in lift.  Spectre was maxed.  I don't know what I was thinking back then. :)

IIRC, the things that bypass shields are turret and rocket explosions, melee attacks, rachni spit and maybe the siege pulses from the geth four leggers.  I don't think sniper shots do.  They just do a lot of honkin' damage.   The explosions and siege pulses are not full bypass but some percentage (not sure how much.)

Not 100% positive, it's been a while since I played.

^Yeah I think you remember correctly.  Basically toxic, explosion, or melee damage goes directly to health.

As far as the percent, it was hard to tell much.  The biotics I tested with rockets to the face didn't really seem to take much barrier damage at all from a rocket if any.  At one point it seemed like the splash from a rocket hitting Ash did barrier damage, but that might have been pot shots.

I might take a look at armature plasma.  The Colossus on Antibaar one-shot my Adept with barrier up though.

Ah, the joys of looking at some of your old/original characters and wondering what you were thinking. For my first Engineer, I took the Medic Specialization... and then put only one point into Medicine. I don't think I maxed Fitness on my first Soldier.

But yeah, snipers deal a frig-ton of damage. Like you, I think I used to believe they had some shield bypass. Damage protection helps, which is why I actually like spending points into my armor skill (Sentinel excluded of course) so I can actually run around like an idiot and survive a sniper shot, although you still need some decent armor.

I don't think the plasma bolts from armatures / colossi have shield bypass either.  Tried testing with barrier Shep and Ashley on Noveria.  Had to use Ash because I didn't have much damage protection on Shep and he didn't last a shot.

Anyway each hit seemed to drop all her shields when it would do health damage.  So probably just really high damage.
