In the trailer you see a Mako without weapons (to shoot stuff) and also no antennas stuff, a 360 degrees camera or something like that. Even some extra lights (for tunnels and stuff) are missing. It doesn't really feel like a exploration vehicle yet.
The New Mako...

Ugh, I'm hoping the weapon systems are just retracted. I never cared for the Mako (or ME2's version) but if I have to drive it at least give me weapons to randomly blow cr*p up. "Ryder, we're sending you into hostile, enemy territory that's heavily fortified with nothing more than your M8." Gee, thanks.
I've also got to ask, why the h*ll do we not explore in a shuttle? It would be faster and make more of the surface accessible. The only scenario the Mako would have the advantage would be an underground network of caverns.

Perhaps the Tempest is always ready to bomb stuff?

I really enjoyed the Mako in ME1. Really felt like I had control of my exploration. I liked it a lot more than the hovercraft mobile thing. In it, it felt more like a mini-game of the game. It was nice looking and it served it's purpose, but I didn't feel like I was exploring with it. Maybe that wasn't the point of it either. It was a transport with some fire power.
The new Mako looks amazing! I think it will probably handle a lot better and make travel fun. I think I read something about the team from Need for Speed worked with the ME crew to get the new Mako designed for ME4. This is pretty exciting.

Hello Chaps, what do you expect from the new mako?
PS: Sorry if this post has already made before... eh.
I hope there is no Mako in Andromeda because i hate that thing.

A more apt question is why do we need one? Think about it.
If the explorable areas are "massive" then a DA:I deja vu comes to mind. It's the only reason why you need a fast method of travel. Further, on the downside, is the 100s of potential planets with similar vast terrain that we must traverse with the Mako to get to our destination.
Why can't the Tempest land nearby? I can't see a happy future with this constant exploration of vast areas. If this exploration is NOT a "must do", what's the point?
Bio will throw us a bone and say it's customizable. Big deal. Now, if we can use the Mako as an all terrain light tank to help us with local monster hunting... well, that is more like it.

Well hopefully if the explorable areas are massive, they'll be worth exploring, unlike most of DA:I, and if they're worth exploring, they're worth exploring in the Mako.
I dunno if they've maybe made the explorable areas extra large for the sake of the Mako, and if so, travelling on foot might make it seem all empty. But yeh, I'm hoping all the planets aren't just gonna be the same and exist solely to ride the Mako around, not that I didn't enjoy that immensely in ME1. I'm just happy the Mako is in the game though.
Also, the Mako is my one true love. I romanced the Mako in ME, rode it all the time, and I was disappointed it was killed off at the end.
Uh, ignore that last bit.

I'm hoping it'll just be like the Mako from ME1, I loved that thing. Except those times when you'd hit a tiny bump in the ground and go flying ten god damn mother ******* miles in to the god damn mother ******** air and fly all the way back down the mountain you just spent 15 ******* hours scaling just to get stuck in the ********* ground and have to reload the. Entire. Planet. GOD I HATE THE MAKO.
This has literally never happened to me, and I've played ME1 over a dozen times, and I always do every Mako planet because I'm OCD like that. Not once did this happen, and yet, I see it as a common complaint.
So, is this a PC thing? Whenever I see a post on Reddit about Mass Effect being glitchy in other ways, it's always on PC. I played on Xbox, and I never had any problems with glitches if you don't count Aria moonwalking on Omega and Shep's exorcist head during a few conversations.

I've never had the Mako glitch for me either. I still don't care for it though. Put me in the Hammerhead camp. It wasn't fleshed out, but they attempted more traditional/arcadey gameplay and levels with it. My only wish is they made more levels and it got increasingly harder or something.

I'd like it if they somehow made it so the Mako could flip its wheels sideways and turn into a hovercraft at the push of a button... best of both worlds. ![]()

I hope they turn the MAKO into something like the futuristic equivalent of the russian BMD-4. This little thing carries 7 people, has an armor that stops most small arms and light tank rounds, it reaches speeds in excess of 80 km/h, has a 100mm tank cannon, a 30mm autocannon, Anti-tank rockets, thermal vision, smoke grenades, it can be dropped from a plane and it can swim. I expect the same things and more from an APC in the year 21XX.

But can it walk on the moon?
It is completely sealed so if you throw in an electric engine and do a few modifications it probably could.
And conventional ammunition works in space too.

I still find it funny the MAKO has wheels instead of tank tracks. Tank tracks offer much better off road capabilities than wheels, they have much more surface area and lower the center of gravity of the vehicle. Besides that switching to tracks has a ton of beneficial features for armored vehicles. Tank tracks are comparatively heavy (even rubber ones) thats why do not see them on space rovers and probes, buts a non issue in ME:

Can't say that I'm happy about the apparent lack of weapons. I mean, why would anyone make such a stupid design choice?
No weapons means that you can't fight things with the vehicle = which means less variety in vehicular activities = which means less fun.
(and considering the theme of exploration and unknown danger, this is practically idiotic by in-game logic)
In what world is this a rational game design decision?
