So I started a new playthrough yesterday. I have 500+ hours over two playthroughs, but I haven't been to the Hinterlands in, oh, a year or so. And tonight I'm wandering around doing my thing, and I'm heading to Master Dennet's and Solas says something along the lines of "Shouldn't we travel to Val Royeaux now, Seeker? Indeed, the Breach won't seal itself." He did it again a few minutes later. In 500 hours I have never heard this EVER. Honestly it was kind of annoying (sorry bae but you gotta keep your tunic on) but also, and I hate to be critical here, it sounded like it was recorded over the phone in a hallway while everyone's running late for lunch.

Even Solas is tired of the Hinterlands! XD

It was added to the game with one of the patches to try and get players to leave the Hinterlands.

This was added in one of the final patches, but I don't believe it's to do with Hinterlands specifically. He starts saying this if you have enough power (4) to go visit the Chantry in Val Royeaux. Once you do that mission, he never says it again. It's kind of a drag because that takes the place of other banter. I got that two times in a row from him once -- 30 minutes of potential banter time, wasted!

So get a move on and head to VR already!

Let's face it, if anyone knows the need for urgency with regard to closing the rift, then it's Solas.   Plus he wants his orb back.   He is probably still scratching his head as to what became of it and hoping that whoever picked it up is going to surface at some point.   After all, he thought that Corypheus was going to be blown into little pieces, so may be at this point he isn't even aware that he wasn't, just thinks some other Venatori has got it.   Need to raise the profile of the Herald so the right people take notice and make contact.   Solas was always working to his own agenda.

Solas is another character I would love to run a sword through as soon as I laid eyes on him. He's #4 on my  DA series hate list. I freely admit he just barely edge out Vivienne for that spot.

 

I'm clearing out the baddies from the entrance to the refugee camp and he spouts off about going after alliances. After saying I hope the Inquisition can help these people he slightly approves after you do gather food and warm clothes and medication for that Elf's sick wife.

 

He doesn't seem overly happy about finding the ring for the Elvan widow.

Sadly lots of players didn't leave the Hinterlands, then bitched about how many quests they had to do there.  They were somehow too dense to realise there were main quests to do, so this must be BioWare's way of prodding them.

Thanks all, wasn't aware of this new addition until now. Glad to know its associated with power. I can see how it's in character for Solas. However, gameplay wises, I dislike being manipulated by being annoyed, especially by something that is an obvious tack on of lower quality in what is otherwise a sea of excellence. I really don't think it is necessarily to push a player out of the Hinterlands like that. Not the end of the world but I wouldn't hate it if there was a mod out there to remove it.

Interestingly, those lines ONLY trigger in the Hinterlands, so if you want to do some exploring on the Storm Coast, you'll get normal banter.

I don't do all of Hinterland's quest just the one I enjoy doing and taking out the baddies like the bandit camps.

 

I just do the food,clothes medication,ring,rifts.my love awaits and set up some camps before moving on after I met the mages I do the  farm quest ,bandit camps and more rifts.

 

A quick in/out for the poetry book for darling Cassandra. 

 

The third time is Cassandra's unfinished business quest,get the Grey Warden. junk  get the key and head for the red lyrium  mine.

I'm pretty sure one of the devs said that GDL did record some additional lines over the phone, because he couldn't get back to the studio due to other commitments. That was probably one of them. XD

No Solas for me this time ... he pissed me off too much at the end of Trespasser. I did have to drag him along for one artifact quest in Hinterlands, but otherwise it's Vivienne all the way. She, Cassandra, and Sera are my crew this time. Pretty funny combination, especially when Sera says, "Look, everyone, Vivienne is taking a pee" (or words to that effect). Cracked me up. I know a lot of people dislike Sera, but her funny banter has made her one of my favorites.

 

I don't normally do melee characters, but decided to do a Dwarf Assassin. Far and away my favorite character thus far. As I was able to sinq my collection of schematics from my previous play throughs, at level-2 I crafted her a pair of 329-dps daggers and tuned into hard mode, which for me is quite something. Very fun. Sorry, got off the subject just a bit

There ought to an achievement for getting out of the Hinterlands before he says that. Carrot and stick!
