I recently got into conlangs and I thought the Elven/Elvish language in dragon age is super cool. But I've never seen it in its written form before. Maybe there are some pieces of it in books and other companion materials, but I've only played the games.

Anyway, if you have pictures or materials on what the elven language looks like, please post it down there.

P.S. This is probably a question that has been asked a million times before, but who created the language?

Written form from DAI:

The elven language is actually a cipher, as Gaider himself explained.

It looks like this..

I don't know who created it, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mary Kirby had some hand in it.

Also I could've sworn Inon Zur adapted some Tolkien for his songs... so he might've inadvertently contributed to lore.

Ooooh then it should be easier to learn than I expected (I hope)!

And the names are practically the same too! Elven and elvish.

I'm guessing the writing system is abugida then? Because the alphabets(?) on the stones seem to be way more complex than the ones on that sheet of paper.

I know this is a coincidence but this particular letter/word

looks like a combination of

BpqNbU2.png + b1UDb5n.png.

The former is a letter from Khmer alphabet and the latter is elder futhark

Not to mention that when BpqNbU2.png  is written by hand, it tends to be more square and triangle looking.

Also these two letters/words always accompanying each other!

The more I look at it, the second letter/word looks like another letter from the khmer alphabet

@tacodrell, do you happen to be a philologist or linguist by profession or hobby?

@Taki17 it's a hobby, I don't think there are many jobs for linguists in my country.

Interesting... I'm part "Khmer", but I don't know the Alphabet. Or even seen it before. So that's cool to know.

Not sure if there's a similarity, but I'll defer to you. You know more than me.

@straykat, really? I'm Khmer, although my accent is terrible because English is kinda my default language nowadays. I still think Khmer is a really awesome language. Hope, you'll get around to learning it one day! (:

Well, my mom is Thai/Cambodian, but grew up in Thailand... So she's really just Thai culturally. So if I learn anything, it might just be Thai.

That's fair, I tried learning Thai when I was younger, I didn't really get into it unfortunately. But my dad knows how to speak and write quite well, or so that's why he said.
