what makes people confident there'll be a sibling Ryder who plays a big role?

I would have hoped we would be able to pick the gender, rather than it being determinant on your character's gender.

 

Instead of brother = sister, or vice versa, it might be interesting to see a brother and brother sibling relationship or sister and sister, that's if the writing and development is good enough to warrant such a range of variables you'd have to take into account.

I would love to play both and experience their own perspective. Dishonored 2 is going to do something like that (where you can play a male or a female character and each having their own story). Other games have done that in the past, so it is not unprecedented.

 

If not then I hope it isn't anything like in DA2, where I didn't feel any connection to Hawke's family.

Seriously hated how depending on my class (either Behtany/Carver survive), also hate how much we were forced to feel sorry over one of their death, even worst how we were forced to feel sorry and broken over death of that horrible mother of theirs.

 

I don't want Ryder's family to end up being some sort of fodder for "tragedy" in here.

We don't know whether they play a big role, but they probably will have a big influence on the player character (Ryder). But everything we know so far is mostly from third hand informants. The speculations I've seen so far are;

 

- The N7 guy in the trailer is the PC's older brother. He goes missing and the PC is apparently selected to take over from him.

- The PC will have more than a sibling, they might have an entire family who came with them to Andromeda. Protecting that family is their main goal.

- The N7 guy is the PC's father and the PC also has a younger sibling. 

- The PC's gender will determine what type of sibling they have i.e. Male Ryder will have a sister and Female Ryder will have a brother. 

- The sibling of the PC might be a major villain in the story. 

 

Well there are several others, but these are the more prominent ones. Personally, I would prefer the 3rd option. I don't really want to be the younger sibling and I don't really want my gender determining which type of sibling I get. Still, if you're looking for a specific role your sibling is going to play then you'll just have to wait until N7 day for more information if they decide to release any at all.

Mark my words it will be like fallout 4 except brother/sister. One we play other will be rival/antagonist. Crusader kings 2 my mother helping my sister to kill me I guess i know who is favourite child.

I would love to have a twin brother for my femryder. I don't know, I just love the idea.

And I want to customize him too, not only my main character.... (and if he's the antagonist, it would be the cherry on the cake !)

 

I hope they will let us chose the gender of the sibling, because, if I want a brother, I'm sure other here want a sister.

I think it's just popular fan-theory at this point. Trailers have showed us N7 guy who is not us (on what devs have said), photo of family with two kids- girl and boy (I hope I remember this one right) and dog tag named Ryder that some say isn't ours cause we should be wearing ours. And devs have also said that Ryder has family members/relatives in Andromeda.

Oh, I hope the gender of the possible sibling isn't determined by your characters opposing gender. I quite like playing with brother or sister pairs, and that would also limit replayability a tiny bit.
