The same issue i've had with mass effect 1 is that the sound in the dialogues shorten out. It's like the sound plays faster then the game itself. Really bad that you guys didnt fix this yet...

For ME1:
Tried to change software/hardware.
Edited the config files to allow more channels etc.
Added some code to them etc.
(nothing different happened)

Now i'ld like to point out that there are no lag or stuttering of the sound.
Both games run fine FPSwise its just the sound is too fast.
I know that it has something to do with EAX.

Is there a way to not use EAX in ehiter game or like set it so it does not accelerate the sound?

Windows 7 64-bit
Core 2 duo 3.33 ghz
4 GB ram DDR3
GTX 260
Realtek high defenition audio

Getting the same problem. Got onboard Realtek etc...

Super fast i7 core GTX 290 gfx with 6 gb RAM. Can't be a low system spec problem.

Any solution would be well appreciated. I'm not paying £30 for something that doesn't work right.

That problem was recently discussed in another thread. Solution was updating the audio driver with drivers from Realtek.

HAHA! Found the solution......I can't believe it!

*My* solution was to disable all acceleration in the BIOS to do with the CPU. I had things like CIA2 on cruise setting so I set it to standard, and another thing set it to standard......its as if my CPU (Core i7) was too fast for the game!

Hope this helps others....I know a lot of people are dubious about such extreme measures to counter an annoying bug like this (including me) but I was desperate so I gave it a go and it works.

I had a ton of sound issues with my Realtek HD audio chip in ME1. But changing the "MaxChannels" to 64 and "TotalAvailableChannels" to 62 under "[ISACTAudio.ISACTAudioDevice]" fixed all of them.

ME2 worked much better. Maybe three times in the entire game did dialogue options get cut off, and even then it was perhaps one syllable that was missing at the end, so while noticeable it was hardly a big deal.

Two reasons why I don't have problems with games, espicially ME 2, is that I totally disabled Turbo mode for the cpu, which is a form of overclocking and all other overclocking options, and in effect enabled all four cores to be active at once, and I don't have anything to do with Creative Labs soundcards, which in my situation did nothing but cause problems.

My soundcard is the HT Omega Claro, which uses the CMEDIA 8788HD chip, and as a result I don't have any audio problems. I have the onboard VIA VT2020 codec which is also really good shut off and waiting if I need it for audio.

I found this as a solve :

This actually isn't an audio card issue. I had it and fixed it.

I'm assuming that you're overclocking your CPU or GPU? Well... You have to turn off your overclocking to get the timings right on the dialogue. Because, the Mass Effect Configuration Tool checks what your hardware is and adjusts the dialogue and event triggers to fit.

So, what's happening is that the video is going faster than the program knows it should, and so it has to cut dialogue off to keep up.

Long story short: You can't overclock Mass Effect.

I don't overclock my GFX card and I have the problem though :-/

Well, that fixed my Realtek HD audio problems with ME1 at least. I'll see what it what happens with ME2 when I finish this playthrough. Thank you so much!

My problem was that it played the sounds fine most of the time, but when there was many simultaneous sounds, it only played some of them, the newer sound overriding the older. Like in Flux the ambient music got choppy every time I moved because of the footstep sounds. Very annoying with dialogue gets cut off. I like to play this game without subtitles. Funnily enough, the previous time I played this game is when it was new and I had an older MB with Realtek AC'97. Similar problems, but not nearly as bad. Only an occasional piece of dialogue getting chopped off on noisy areas.

I'm asking this again.
What about a computer than CAN'T BE OVERCLOCKED?
Mac Pro early 2008
Two Xeon Quad-core 2.8 GHz
Playing ME2 under Windows XP SP3 with Bootcamp - but I had the same behaviour under Windows 7.
Graphics card nVidia GEForce GTX 285 - driver 197.13
Sound card Realtek HD integrated on motherboard - latest driver (I don't remember its number, but I downloaded it a week ago)
There is no possible way to overclock this machine: no BIOS options, no utilities, nothing at all. So, I came to a conclusion: overclocking is not the actual problem. Something else is. Is perhaps my Mac too fast to play modern games? Have I to play ME2 on another PC to hear all the words at the end of sentences? If this is the only way, it's really a lame workaround!

EDIT: I've just seen that the config of ME2 reports my CPUs as wrong type - only dual core instead of quad core. However, the game uses all of the eight cores it have at its disposal. Maybe this bug is seen like overclocking by ME2. I'll try to reduce the number of CPUs utilized by the game. Anyway, this is a lame workaround!

EDIT 2: I have reduced the CPUs utilized by the game, but nothing happens. It's not a workaround, in sum. Hope they will put correct system detection in next patch.
