It's not offensive but it is semantics, because it's not the definition of what racism is. Racism, by definition, does not require that the offending party possess power over the offended party. The idea of that was only created by people who wanted to act like there was nothing wrong about being racist towards white people. It's not "keeping the white man down", but it is still racism.
 

Agreed.... but I can't help thinking that a term which referred to racism plus power, particularly state power, would be a useful thing to have. Fights over terminology usually mean that the existing discourse has some problems.

I think we're pretty much in agreement that straight white guys shouldn't be written out. I'm just not seeing that as being a danger.

No seriously though, why does it matter? If anything you can consider the game and the marketing two completely seperate entities and it wouldn't affect the game at all since we all know we can make our own protagonist.

 

Then again I've never bought anything (or at least very little) based on marketing alone, so I probably don't understand marketing...
