I hope the Ryder we saw in the trailer is a bit more "defined" when the game comes out. What I normally do is try to recreate my face. The basis is there, but then it goes over the top about 2/3rds into it, and I end up with weird hair and tattoos (saint's row). The mass effect cc doesn't really allow me to recreate my hair in any accurate way, so I have to go with buzzcut.
I always used the default face for male Shepard. Obviously, female didn't have one for the first 2 games, so I had to customize her there. When 3 came around I used the default face for female Shepard too.
If ME:A is anything like DA:I in the CC area, then I'll probably make minor tweaks to the one of the default faces. I'm not the most skilled with face sculpting so I can't get to deep in the customization realm.
a) nope, a lot of my ryders will be female.. I don't want them to have beards. And the male ones just have to look decent.
b ) nope, I tried that when I first played ME2 a couple of years before.. failed and never tried again.
I only played as default-shep once and never as default hawke..
I guess MEA could have the greatest looking character of all time as default and I just wouldn't use it.
If a game has a character creator (I love games which feature a CC) I want to use it.
Although I'm female I usually play dudes and just make them as hot as I can. If I play a game multiple times I'll probably have a blond, a brunette and a redhead. I'm shallow.
I tend to use a default face because I have a problem where 90% of the faces I make should ideally have a paper bag over them.
The other 10% of the time I'm usually playing the opposite gender and I try to make them look attractive to me.
Usually I try to recreate myself a bit (because I'm of course that handsome), but for ME:A I might try something different. Because otherwise there would be too much similarities with my Shepard and Ryder has to feel 'new'.
I hope we'll get similar (or even better!) character creator like on Inquisition since it is pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind a default face either, even if I doubt I'd ever actually use it ![]()
But I seriously hope we still get face codes like in ME2 and ME3. I suck at creating handsome guys and I was quite happy when my friend gave me her guys face code.
I check out all the options and make whatever seems like the coolest looking combination. In DA2 I just picked default femHawke cause she looked cooler than any of the custom options.
I base it off my face, as close as I can.
For my female characters I base it off of other female video game characters. My vanguard in the old mass was based off of Estelle Sidos.
I just play with default faces.
I usually pick the default, or choose a preset I like and make minor changes. I can never make a good custom face in Bioware games. Also I don't do self-insert characters.
In first person view it is as if I look into the world. In third person view I look at a character that I control. Both are fine with me, but if it is the latter then I'll make sure it doesn't look like me at all. That allows me to role play a character that's not me. It's more fun and has more replay value.
As long as I can make Ryder look like Michael Biehn's Kyle Reese or Cpl. Dwayne Hicks.

I'd be content... Kyle Ryder or Cpl. Dwayne Ryder? Ugh... which one?
I never use my face. I don't want to see myself -- assuming I could even succeed. creepy. I always fiddle around with the customization options until I get combinations I like. Also, I like to play characters with a variety of skin tones/ethnicities. I don't really go in with any kind of "plan." It might take me hours to come out of it without a troll-duck-faced character, but I try. ![]()
The only time I used a default face in a game was mShep, with one character, because I actually liked the way he looked. And I was lazy. ![]()
I'm trying to go for B, but usually it ends up between the two.

If I were to use option B I'd want to slap Ryder's face during the first dozen or so cutscenes because Ryder would then also suffer from the resting ****** face disease like me. So no thank you!
Option A always felt so mary-sueish...
So where's my option C: I create interesting random characters by experimenting with the creation tools? ![]()
