I always draw my potential protagonist and then try to make the CC get as close to it as possible

I generally choose whichever preset I find most visually attractive (male and female) and try to remove any imperfections I don't like. Occasionally, I make a truly ugly protagonist just for lols.

So it's never my face.

I like creating my own characters. I usually make one dark hair, one brown hair, and one redhead. Since all of the human teammates so far in the series have had dark hair I may just do a blonde character this time.

Depends, I suppose. On my first playthrough I usually make a character that I'm comfortable with. It's only on subsequent playthroughs that I tend to get creative with my characters.

I mess around in the CC until I find a look that I like. The only thing that I tend to take from my own appearance is eye colour.

I like to have a unique character so I never use the default face, I always create a special face for all my characters with everything I love.

It takes me a lot of time to change everything but I don't mind :)

The more we can customize our characters, the happier I am !

Making myself for sure NOT!

I love myself way too much to have myself killed by some creepy kid in 3 shitty endings thank you very much.

I usually take one of the default faces and change it a bit. I also like to add scars and/or wrinkles to make the character feel more natural. I also add some of my own features like hair/eye color or nose shape. I really liked the face code/ID system in previous MEs. I hope to see that again.

Do people

a) Make it look the way they wish their face is

OR

b ) Make it look exactly like their face

I've always felt very happy playing the game as is using the default face.

I've made different faces, but often I make it somewhat like me. I don't think I can make it exactly like me or the way I would wish, I'm happy with myself as I am though. And my character tends to get a general look that's somewhat similar. I don't mind that much but I tend to think it's easier to symphatise or get into the role that way. Though, tbh, even when I play default characters in games it seems to work out just fine.

I'm not overthinking things. I just mold a face of my own and doesn't need to be that similar but I tend to go for it as a general direction. It's probably best if it isn't a complete clone, that might actually feel freaky tbh.

Where was I.... Yeah, I do like the idea of customising my own characters face etz since that create something somewhat unique for my experience. I like the idea of having created my own unique character even if it's locked into a certain story and lots of preprogrammed events.

Here's my flawed formula:

Attempt to create a beautiful face following rules of aesthetics. Admittedly, this is a bit haphazard and based more on my flawed understanding of what makes a face beautiful.

Once that is done, go back and mess with the face to add imperfections such as a broken nose, close-set eyes, etc to make the face interesting.

I don't think i have ever used a preset i love character creation i can literally spend days making characters instead of playing the actual games but that's just me i have to admit Kaiser sheps idea seems quite interesting though i may have to try it.

Neither. I visualize the protagonist as an entirely separate character and depending on background, build from there.

Reminds me that I'm guilty of buying Black Desert Online for 20€ just so I could mess around with the amazing CC in order to make a ton of interesting looking characters. I don't like the game very much but I can put a lot of time into that character creator. Would be great to see MEA with something just as good.. great CC and great game, I would totally love that.

I just don't want to waste too much time, so it's default for me. I might mess around at first, but ME and DA2 were default for me. I can be very OCD and spend DAYS perfecting something. It's awful. I'm trying to avoid that and just enjoy the game before I hate everything and get worn out.

I only make myself in sports or skating games. Otherwise, I try to create a new face if that's my only option in a fantasy game or something.

If the CC gives me a pain in the butt, I use the default. Otherwise. I try  to create my own vision of my character. But, without proper hair styles, my avatar, doesn't come out quite right.

Here's a sad example of how bad it is for me... I actually had to get EA to wipe my DA Keep account (which took a long time in itself). Everytime I made a character in the CC, and launched into the opening scene, it uploaded a profile online. So there were over a hundred entries and it screwed up my account. lol

If they had just made a decent face, I'd click OK and just get on with the ****** game.

None of the above. I mess with the CC until I find something that satisfies me.

How you end up sticking with the same looks is impressive (I mean, since you make multiple characters of the same type).

I could have used a "save" feature, since they put in so many options. I might hate it less.

Sometimes that happens on accident. I find a look I like and unconsciously go back to it with each new character.
